Our NCAC Utility Assistance team is hard at work every day providing important support and education for families related to home energy use. They share a Spring Energy Conservation Tip:
Avoid placing lamps or TV sets near your room air-conditioning thermostat. The thermostat senses heat from these appliances, which can cause the air conditioner to run longer than necessary.

It’s time to take control of your finances! Free Money Smart for Adults classes start Oct. 7 and will meet Tuesdays from 5:30 p.m. – 7:45 p.m. through Dec. 2 (no class 11/25) at the Safe Haven Community Center (101 Lincoln Ave., across from the Toppen*sh Pool). Those who attend will learn how to budget, set up a savings plan, manage credit cards, buy a house, and more—to including how to establish, maintain, and repair credit. All attendees will receive a free textbook as well as free incentive gifts such as budget books, calculators, gas cards, and more; those attending all eight sessions will receive a Certificate of Completion. Please call (509) 865-1804 to register ahead of time or simply show up at 5:15 p.m. on the first night of class.

Free Citizenship classes to prepare immigrants for the Naturalization Interview and Naturalization Tests will take place 5:30 p.m. – 6:25 p.m. on Tue., Wed., and Thur. evenings from Sept. 23 to Dec 4 (no classes 11/11, 11/26, 11/27) at the Toppen*sh Learning Center (720 W. Third Ave, Toppen*sh). Those interested can simply show up to any class to register, obtain a free citizenship textbook, learn more about the naturalization process, participate in mock interviews, and more. Questions?
