Munson Healthcare is proud to support the Women's Resource Center of Northern Michigan with a $7,500 donation to help expand access to mental health counseling for survivors in our region.

In addition to this investment, members of our team recently spent the day volunteering at the center’s Safe Home by pitching in with outdoor cleanup, window washing, and more to help provide a safe and welcoming space for residents.

Strong communities require strong partnerships. By supporting counseling services and showing up with hands-on help, we’re committed to helping survivors build stability, health, and economic security.

We were thrilled to kick off construction of the new Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Munson Medical Center yesterday!

Munson Healthcare administration, providers, donors, and little helpers from our daycare—including some NICU grads—came together for a ceremonial groundbreaking to celebrate this exciting milestone. Construction is expected to take approximately 18 months, with completion targeted for late 2027.

The expansion reflects our commitment to advancing maternal and neonatal care for families across northern Michigan, ensuring the region’s smallest and most vulnerable patients receive the specialized care they deserve.

ROAD CONSTRUCTION IN TRAVERSE CITY

Medical Campus Dr. will be closed at Elmwood Ave. through the week of June 12 while the City of Traverse City completes pavement improvements. The construction affects routes to Munson Medical Center. A detour has been established using W. Front, S. Division, and W. Eleventh Streets.

Please travel safely, allow extra travel time, and follow posted detours. Thank you for your patience as this work is completed!

What an outstanding day at the TCTC Bayshore Marathon! We were proud to partner with the Traverse City Track Club for this year's event.

Congratulations to all finishers and a special shoutout to the 300+ Munson Healthcare employees who crossed the finish line on Saturday.

Thank you to our Munson medical volunteers for keeping participants safe and supported and to our teams from Mary Free Bed at Munson Healthcare Rehabilitation and Munson Orthopedic Institute for sharing valuable resources with the community.

Signs of Stroke & What to Do Next

A stroke, or brain attack, has clear signals—and when you know the signs, you can spot them right away and get faster medical intervention. BE FAST is an easy way to remember the most common signs of a stroke:

Balance problems
Eyesight changes (blurry or lost vision)
Facial drooping (often one-sided)
Arm numbness
Slowed speech (or understanding others)
Time to call 911!

If your loved one shows signs of stroke, call 911 right away and ask to go to Munson, no matter where you are in Northern Michigan. Our Comprehensive Stroke Center at Munson Medical Center is equipped with the latest technology for locating and eliminating clots quickly. During stroke, minutes matter—including transportation time.

Reeling in Support for Our Veterans

Munson Healthcare was honored to support Manistee’s Tight Lines For Troops, a powerful event that brings the community together to recognize and uplift veterans. The two days featured guided fishing trips on Lake Michigan, giving veterans a chance to relax, connect and share stories on the water. With a $1,000 donation, we’re proud to stand behind those who have served, celebrating their strength and sacrifice. Events like this remind us that healing goes beyond hospital walls—it’s found in connection, gratitude, and honoring those who gave so much.
