Manistee Hospital loved being part of the Ludington Senior Expo — bringing a little Manistee care down the lakeshore!

We had a great time connecting with the Ludington community, sharing information, answering questions and highlighting the wide range of services available close to home across our system. And while many folks already make the trip to Manistee for care, it was a great chance to remind everyone just how much is waiting for them there.

From friendly conversations to meaningful connections, it was a day full of community spirit.

Nearly 400 families helped kick off summer at the 5th Annual Kid’s Safety Day at First Street Beach in Manistee, and it was a blast! Kids climbed aboard police cars and fire trucks while picking up tips on bike, water, fire and online safety.

A highlight of the day: staff from Manistee Hospital’s trauma department fitted kids with life jackets, helping families feel confident and safe heading into lake season.

Designed to make safety fun and approachable, Kid’s Safety Day continues to grow as a community favorite, bringing together learning, laughter and lifesaving skills.

We're already counting down to next year!

Pictured here, Emily Veldboom, Manager of Nursing Services, welcomed attendees and helped answer questions about the care we provide to support growing families in our community.

We’re grateful for opportunities like this to meet families where they are and share how we’re here for them—every step of the way.

As part of our continuing focus on recognizing the incredible people behind our care, we’re proud to honor team members whose years of service have made a meaningful difference. Today, we celebrate Cindy Hodges, RN, for her remarkable 31+ years as an OB nurse at the Grayling Maternal Newborn Center.

Cindy’s journey into obstetrics began with timing and location, but it became one of the most meaningful parts of her life. “Other than my children and grandchildren, working in this OB department has been my most rewarding, satisfying, and enjoyable time of my life,” she shared.

Cindy has worked alongside knowledgeable and caring providers and co-workers, creating a strong, family-like atmosphere within the department. Together, they’ve built a culture rooted in collaboration, compassion, and shared learning. “We are happy to learn from each other and share our knowledge to provide the best care,” Cindy said. “We know how important our role is in ensuring our patients have the best experience possible in this life-changing process.”

Throughout her career, Cindy has witnessed significant changes—from advancements in technology to evolving generations in nursing—but her commitment to patient-centered care has remained constant. Access to education and resources has helped her and her team continue delivering exceptional care through it all.
Reflecting on her decades of service, Cindy shares: “I feel blessed and grateful for all the wonderful families I have been able to support over the years.”

Thank you, Cindy, for your unwavering dedication, compassion, and the countless lives you’ve touched.
