Munson Medical Center is the only verified Level II Trauma Center north of Grand Rapids and has the only Neonatal Intensive Care Unit in northern Michigan. Munson Medical Center invests in the latest sophisticated diagnostic technology, such as 3D tomography, so patients receive precise, timely diagnoses. Our state-of-the-art surgical services offer the latest minimally-invasive techniques, including daVinci robots and stereotactic radiosurgery, for less pain and faster recovery. Our goal is to provide advanced, quality care as close to home as possible. If patients require the services of a larger medical center, we work closely with Helen Devos Children’s Hospital in Grand Rapids, and Michigan Medicine in Ann Arbor. Cooperative relationships with these leading facilities ensure patients have a smooth transition of integrated care. “There is nothing that brings me greater joy than watching my patients recover from surgery and return to a physical state and quality of life that had been robbed of them, often impacting their lives for many years. I love that I can help them return to everyday tasks with less pain and debility.” —Neil Klinger, MD, Neurosurgeon

Please join us in welcoming the Michigan State University College of Human Medicine Class of 2028 to Munson Healthcare!

As a regional teaching site for MSU, we're proud to help train the next generation of physicians through hands-on clinical experiences in hospitals, clinics, and physician offices across northern Michigan.

This summer, our third-year medical students began their clinical training, gaining valuable experience through meaningful patient interactions and diverse rural health care settings. We look forward to supporting their journey as they learn, grow, and prepare to become future physicians.

Thank you to Dr. Emily McKerchie of Charlevoix Surgeons for speaking with the Rotary Club of Charlevoix about the importance of colorectal cancer screening and prevention.

Did you know? At-home screening tests can detect only about 42% of polyps, while a colonoscopy detects about 95%, making it the gold standard for early detection and prevention.

Screening saves lives. Talk with your healthcare provider about when it's time for your colonoscopy and take an important step toward protecting your health.

Today is about recognizing that we need to show up for one another in brave ways. Because overdose is preventable when we act.

There is hope in the fight against this epidemic, sustained by education, compassion, and a shift in mindset. We invite you to learn more about the science behind addiction and how you can save a life with Narcan® (Naloxone)—a medication that can reverse overdose. This lifesaving medication is available at our free access boxes located throughout the region, in partnership with Harm Reduction Michigan, as well as at all Munson emergency rooms and pharmacies.

“I became a physician assistant in mid-life out of a deep desire to help patients understand their health issues and provide the best care I can for them. Health is such a vital part of our lives, yet all too often diagnosing problems and determining the best treatment can be a challenge. It is important for me as a provider to develop genuine relationships with my patients, so they entrust me with their health concerns, and in turn, feel heard. It is a privilege to have patients trust us with their health and their lives.” —Gail L Friedrick, PA-C, Munson Healthcare Endocrinology and Metabolism

Three events, countless meaningful conversations! Last week, our East Region teams connected with community members at Otsego County Project Connect, the Little Traverse Bay Band Community Health Fair, and the Petoskey Senior Expo. We loved sharing resources, answering questions, and hearing how much people appreciate having more Munson Healthcare services closer to home.
