Did you know that kids are at a higher risk for dehydration and heat illness compared to adults? It's easy for kids to forget to stop and drink water when they're having a great time playing outside on a hot and humid day. Be sure your kids drink water every 15-20 minutes during play!

This year, 5 children have died in hot cars nationwide, with 3 incidents reported in the past two days, a tragic reminder that we can all take steps to help prevent hot car deaths. It only takes a few minutes for a car to heat up and become deadly to a child inside. As summer temperatures rise, more kids are at risk. It's never OK to leave a child alone in a car, not even for a minute, and not even with the window cracked or the car running. May 1st is National Heatstroke Prevention Day. This is your reminder to never leave ANYONE, including children, vulnerable adults, and pets, in an unattended car for ANY length of time.

Every year, children lose their lives in hot cars, and in 1 in 4 cases, they got in on their own and couldn’t get back out.

On National Heatstroke Prevention Day, we’re reminding parents of tips to prevent these tragedies:

• Always lock your vehicle, even at home
• Keep keys and fobs out of children’s reach
• Teach kids that cars are not play areas

A parked car can heat up quickly, even on mild days. A few simple habits can save a life.

A good reminder right before the Big Game this weekend!

Furniture and TV tip-overs happen more often than many people realize, and they can cause serious injuries to children. In fact, every 3 weeks a child dies from a furniture or TV tip-over, and seven children visit the ER every day because of one.

The good news? A few simple changes can make a big difference:
✔ Secure TVs and furniture to the wall
✔ Keep heavy items on lower shelves
✔ Avoid placing toys or remotes where kids may climb to reach them
✔ Use anti-tip brackets or wall straps

Take a minute to check your home today — it could prevent a serious injury tomorrow. Please see the infographic below for easy safety tips you can use right away.
