A milestone in limb-saving care for Southern Arizona ❤️

Pima Heart & Vascular surgeon Scott Berman, MD, MHA, FACS, DFSVS, recently performed the region's first Symvess procedure.

Symvess is a bioengineered blood vessel used to repair damaged arteries in the arms and legs when a patient's own vein isn't available for bypass. Made from human vascular cells, it acts as a natural scaffold that the body can incorporate into its own tissue, giving surgeons another option to restore blood flow and help prevent amputation.

For patients who have run out of traditional bypass options, this can mean keeping a limb, and with it, their independence and quality of life.
