Garden Grove, California HazMat Incident
Lessons SHOULD NOT BE LEARNED FROM THIS, its too late!. They should have been 'planned out years ago and used as an actionable plan' to mitigate any potential harms or prevent them from occurring; even if an earthquake or an airplane struck the facility! The insanity of this response is nobody knows what to do with it! Where is the industrial safety, where are the inspectors and third-party audit reports?
This is a complete failure of EHS, APCD, CARB and All municipal zoning and Code enforcement entities, including response entities for HazMat. Were the data sheets not shared on the chemicals and no chemical response plan discussed or pre-trained for? Nope.
Are the OCFA personnel getting hazard pay, they should for exposure to such a dangerous chemical!
OCFA is sourcing data from around the country in how to manage this? Currently only water cannon applied to the damaged tank for temperature cooling. Nobody knows what can happen if it blows, or leaks is that correct?
Well, I'm an idiot but let me say that water use for thermal runaway if this is projected to be true it will run into the watershed, and to the beaches and contaminate, don't forget Moss Landing. I sure hope Orange County lifeguards and harbor patrol have a plan in motion right now and are in the ready. The watershed collection basin is right next to the hazmat location, it runs down Rancho Road, into the watershed of Huntington Harbor.
This is a massive failure, speaking as a parent with a child in the area, and family and colleagues I am really pi**ed off at this county, who is in control of public safety? Airborne vapors will go inland, water will run with gravity feed, we have multiple layers of concern here. This is not acceptable and we don't need answers, its too late for that because the answer is obvious its a failure, we need people held accountable and fired tomorrow for not protecting society and our families and businesses, what are you maniacs being paid for|! I tell you this is not it!
