🎶Union Grove Home providing a perfect way to beat the heat while celebrating Independence Day!

Members at the Wisconsin Veterans Home at Union Grove enjoyed an afternoon of music in cool comfort as the Kettle Moraine Blues Band filled the air with patriotic favorites, blues, and timeless big band classics.

The talented musicians, who are members of the Palmyra-Eagle Community Band, helped kick off a week of Fourth of July music events with a performance that had everyone smiling and tapping along.

✨ Before their recent quarterly meeting at the Wisconsin Veterans Home at Union Grove, members of the Wisconsin Veterans Board toured the Home and spent time visiting with our members.

One highlight of the tour was a demonstration of the Tovertafel ("Magic Table"), an interactive game system designed for individuals with cognitive challenges. Using projected games that respond to movement, the Magic Table encourages cognitive, physical, social, and sensory engagement through play.

It was a great opportunity to showcase one of the many innovative ways the Union Grove Home supports the well-being and quality of life of our Veteran members.

On June 5th, an enthusiastic group of members braved the damp, rainy weather to reel in Rainbow Trout and later enjoy a delicious fish fry prepared by Union Grove Veterans Home staff and volunteers.

Making this event possible took a tremendous team effort, as our Home's care staff and volunteers worked together to adapt to the weather and successfully hosted both morning and afternoon fishing sessions.

We are grateful for the community partners who helped make this annual tradition a success:

🐟 Fish tanks provided by American Outdoor Experiences
🚒 Tanks filled by the Kansasville Fire Department
⛺ Tents provided by Palmen Chevrolet
🐟 More than 200 pounds of Rainbow Trout stocked by Silver Moon Fishery of Elton, WI
🌲 Support from wardens of the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (WIDNR)

Overall, event coordination and sponsorship by the Union Grove Veterans Home Recreation Committee, with a shout-out to all the volunteers who helped, and a special thanks to Mary-Ellen Crandall for her efforts.

The positive feedback from members and volunteers has inspired the Recreation Committee to plan a second later this September!

🏍️HOGs ride by Boland Hall in support of Our Members ❤️

Members at the Wisconsin Veterans Home at Union Grove recently welcomed the Suburban Milwaukee chapter of the Harley Owners Group (HOG) for a special visit filled with camaraderie and appreciation.

After a group ride around Boland Hall, the HOG riders spent time visiting with members and presented quilts along with Suburban Milwaukee HOG keepsakes.

Members at the Wisconsin Veterans Home at Union Grove enjoyed a beautiful Memorial Day filled with music, handshakes, salutes, and smiles during the Home’s fifth annual Memorial Day parade.

With the help of staff and volunteers, members gathered outside Boland Hall to watch a motorcade of more than 60 motorcycles, classic cars, vintage jeeps, and local fire department vehicles parade through the campus and the Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery.

The event, coordinated by dedicated volunteers Ellen Jante and David Bart, concluded with an American Legion Honor Guard presentation to the moving sound of Taps.
