🐺 A Day at Wolf Haven International 🐺

Our group recently took a peaceful and memorable trip to Wolf Haven International in Tenino, where we had the opportunity to learn about wolves and see these incredible animals up close.

Wolf Haven’s story began in the late 1970s, when Steve and Linda K***z took in a wolf named Blackfoot and began learning about the unique needs of these animals. In 1982, they moved their organization to Tenino and established what would become Wolf Haven International. Since then, the sanctuary has provided lifetime homes for more than 325 displaced, captive-born wolves, wolfdogs, and coyotes while working to conserve and protect wolves and their natural habitats.

Walking through the sanctuary, listening to the stories of the resident animals, and simply taking in the quiet presence of these beautiful creatures was truly moving. ❤️ Our residents came away with a deeper appreciation for wolves, the challenges they face, and the importance of places like Wolf Haven that give them a safe and compassionate home.

It was one of those outings where we left feeling a little more connected to the natural world—and very grateful for the experience. 🐺🌲

🍹 Margarita Night in the Parlor! 🍹

We brought a little fiesta to the parlor with a refreshing Margarita Night! Our residents gathered together to sip, snack, chat, and enjoy a fun evening of good company. 🌴✨

Sometimes all you need is a tasty drink, a few good friends, and some time to unwind! 💚

🌾 From Armchair Travel to Frybread! 🌾

A few months ago, our Armchair Travel series took us on a journey through Indigenous America before colonization—and ever since, our residents have been asking when they could try their hand at making frybread!

Well, we finally made it happen! 🥰

Jayde guided everyone through mixing and pressing out the dough before frying each piece to golden, crispy perfection. The best part? Getting to sit down together and enjoy the delicious results! 😋

We love when a conversation or activity sparks an idea that our residents are excited to bring to life. Sometimes the best adventures start right here at home! 💛

🏛️✨ A Little Piece of Evergreen History! ✨🏛️

We had a fun day out exploring Vancouver and stopped by the Clark County Historical Museum—where we were delighted to find a little piece of our history! 👀💜

Tucked among the museum’s collection was an old hat rack and mirror from the Evergreen Hotel! If you didn’t know, Evergreen Inn is located inside the historic Evergreen Hotel, which opened on March 17, 1928, and was the first building in Vancouver to receive electricity. Talk about finding a piece of home while out exploring! 🏨⚡

After the museum, we took a scenic drive around Vancouver Lake and headed down Lower River Road, enjoying the sunshine and beautiful views along the way. 🌊🌳

Lynn and Lisa were happy to pose for a few photos at the museum, and Lynn even sent us a fantastic selfie from their adventure! 📸💜

We love discovering little connections between the history of our city and the history of the place we call home. What a fun day!

🖤✨ Serving Up Some Style! ✨🖤

Another dress-up day gave us the perfect excuse to have a little fun with our looks! Resident Lynn showed up in all black to match our awesome servers, Lucas and Jeremiah. 🖤😎

We love when our residents and staff get in on the fun together—it’s the little moments of connection, laughter, and shared silliness that make our building feel like home. 💜

Lynn, you definitely understood the assignment! 👏🖤

🎶☀️ Wrapping Up Our Summer of Concerts! ☀️🎶

We wrapped up our summer concert series with Huckle Buck Highway at the O.O. Howard House, and what a way to end the season! 🎸🌳

These long, sunny summer days spent listening to live music, relaxing on the lawn, and simply enjoying the moment have been some of our favorite outings. There’s something incredibly powerful about music—it brings people together, sparks memories, and gives us the chance to simply feel like ourselves. 💜

This final show was especially good, and we couldn’t have asked for a better way to close out our summer of music! A huge thank you to the City of Vancouver for putting on Summer in the City and giving our residents so many opportunities to get out, enjoy the sunshine, and experience live music together.

We’re already looking forward to next year’s concert series! 🎶✨

🌉🐟 Bonneville Dam Adventures: Part 2! 🐟🌉

After our visit to the fish hatchery, we crossed the Bridge of the Gods and headed into Washington to explore the Washington side of Bonneville Dam—a first for our group! 🎉

We spent some wonderfully peaceful time on the viewing deck watching the fish swim by. Honestly, we were so relaxed we could have stayed there forever! 🐟💙 We also got to tour the other fish ladders and take in the beautiful views of the Columbia River Gorge. 🌲🌊

And of course, no trip to the dam would be complete without a little local history! Our resident Ronnie, who grew up and worked in the area, shared a fun fact with us: the Washington side of Bonneville Dam was featured in the 1986 movie Short Circuit! 🎬🤖 The powerhouse stood in for the fictional Nova Laboratories, where our favorite robot Johnny 5 was created.

We love when our outings give our residents a chance to not only enjoy new experiences, but also share the stories and memories they carry with them. Thanks for being our resident tour guide, Ronnie! 💜

🐟🌲 Bonneville Dam Adventures: Part 1! 🌲🐟

Our annual trip to Bonneville Dam with Bill and Ed is always a favorite, and of course, our first stop is the fish hatchery!

We took some time to soak in the gorgeous views, check out the fish (and WOW—they were BIG this year! 👀🐟), and pay a visit to our old pal Herman the Sturgeon. ❤️

There’s something pretty special about returning to familiar places year after year and watching our residents enjoy the traditions that have become part of our Evergreen summer.

Stay tuned for Part 2 of our Bonneville Dam adventure! 🚍☀️

🎩 A Man of Many Hats… LITERALLY! 🎩

For our recent Hat Day, Gary gave us a little glimpse into his impressive hat collection—and let’s just say, he came prepared! 😂

Between breakfast and lunch alone, Gary swapped out SIX different hats, each one bringing a little something new to his look. We’re pretty sure we only scratched the surface of the collection!

Thanks for letting us check out a sliver of your hat collection, Gary! You’ve officially earned the title of Evergreen’s Man of Many Hats. 🎩😎

🎨💜 Art in Her Element: Marilyn! 💜🎨

One of our favorite building artists, Marilyn, has been enjoying some impromptu art hours lately—asking us to bring out the paints and set up shop! 🖌️✨

Marilyn has so many ideas living in her mind, and sometimes the best way to share them is with a brush, some paint, and a blank canvas. We love watching her ideas come to life and, even more, seeing her absolutely beam while she’s creating.

For Marilyn, art is more than a hobby—it’s a way to express herself, tell her story, and share a little piece of her world with us. And we feel pretty lucky to be invited in. 💜

Keep creating, Marilyn! We’ll keep the paintbrushes ready. 🎨😊
