Sometimes the wrapping is part of the gift. 🎁

I love how a

beautiful pattern, a ribbon, and a little care can turn even a simple package into something that feels special before it's opened.

This holiday season, I'm sharing my art in another form: Christmas wrapping paper featuring my designs. It's a way to bring a little more color and creativity to the gifts you give.

Take a look at the designs in my Etsy shop.

Are you someone who loves wrapping gifts or do you find it a chore? Give us a Like if you like wrapping gifts 😊

Do you see it?

Do you see the red cardinal in the window? It's actually a wooden cardinal on a stand that sat in the window above the kitchen sink at our old house. It was realistic enough to often get a male cardinal flying at the window displeased with the look-alike intruder.

This painting also reminds me of how I first started getting into collage. Here, I used cut strips of yellow paper for branches in the foreground and tiny green beads as berries in a yellow-leafed bush.

It's one of my son's and my favorites. He has the original painting hanging in his kitchen 😊 And I have the wooden cardinal, still, in my kitchen window albeit a new kitchen and window😊

I'm not ashamed to admit

that I am liking this version of my new artwork "An Ontario Garden of Glittering Gems." It's a small 10x10 print, a reproduction of the 16x16 original vintage fabric and recycled paper collage, matted with a white mat board in a simple black frame.

This will be available for purchase this winter at the Waterford Art Show in Venice, Florida.

I will keep you posted😊

Totally unexpected

I was sitting on the Studios deck talking to my sister on the phone and this large, old, gorgeous turtle came swimming right up to me.

Another Studios perk. Love 'em😊

If you love fall, this is for you

The collage - "An Ontario Garden of Glittering Gems" is an expression of being present in nature, caring for it, and discovering beauty in the patterns of the rural countryside.

The artwork will have you recalling the nostalgic comforts of a day away from screens—gathering apples, breathing fresh air, noticing the crisp, fall season, and sharing the quiet satisfaction of activity and family.

The piece holds both the intensity of the scene and the reassurance of a cherished place.

It will create a calm for you, make you curious, and gently connect you to autumn’s abundance.

Ahh, doesn't that sound like just what you could use right about now?😊

It was a nice compliment.

I did this painting a while back. It shows my snow shoes hanging from the apple tree in our old backyard drying after getting their annual varnish.

One year, I used the picture (titled, "The Varnish") for my Christmas card. After receiving his card, a work colleague wondered why I was building community mental health coalitions and not in a studio painting pictures like this.

Like I said, it was a nice complement. And one I have remembered years later.

By the way... the card is available for you too (in my Etsy shop).

I can't work without this.

Any guesses?

When putting a collage together, I use a lot of tracing paper. It acts as pattern paper for the shapes I cut from either paper or fabric for all the parts of the collage.

To make it fast and easy to get a piece of tracing paper, my hubby and I made this dispenser. It consists of a dowel to hang the roll of tracing paper, vintage ticking fabric straps to hang the dowel on the wall, and a metal ruler to evenly tear a sheet of paper from the roll.

It's all in an effort to bring you an abstract coastal landscape collage with efficiency, economy, and, as a Studios visitor once said, some "Yankee ingenuity."

Turning rainy day blues into rainy day love

If you get a calm, cozy feeling when it rains like the sound it makes falling on the roof or if you enjoy petrichor—the earthy scent of freshly overturned soil and fallen leaves in autumn—this collage is for you.

The description of "Swamp Song Serenade" speaks to musicians and people who love music, but the collage is also for the pluviophile - a lover of rainy days. Of course, I think it can turn those with who get the rainy day blues into rainy day lovers.

Let this swamp song serenade uplift you.

From the drama of the dying oak depicted in real birch bark to the bright, lemony lyric of the wild iris, this rainy-day collage evokes rest, relaxation, coziness, and contemplation.

Days like these offer an invitation to stay indoors, get cozy, catch up on rest, and make space for peaceful observation.

One work of art that will fit

in many different places in your home or office.

Before my original artwork sells, I make sure to have professional scans created so that the work can be reproduced as a quality, archival, giclee print in a size fit to your specific needs.

This image shows how my collage - "An Ontario Garden of Glittering Gems" - can be reproduced to a slightly larger size to fit a buyer's needs for a larger wall.

Let me know what you need and we can make it happen😊
