If your struggling with toilet training and reward charts, timers, and sticker charts aren't working...there's probably a reason.

One of the biggest mistakes we make is assuming toilet training is a motivation problem.

Many children actually struggle because of:

βœ” Sensory processing differences

βœ” Anxiety

βœ” Interoception

βœ” Nervous system dysregulation

βœ” Fear

Until we understand why a child is struggling, it's difficult to choose the right intervention.

That's exactly why I created this FREE training.

πŸŽ“ Potty Training Children with Sensory Challenges

Inside, I'll walk you through:

βœ… Why traditional approaches often fail

βœ… The sensory barriers therapists and parents commonly miss

βœ… Practical strategies you can begin using immediately

You can't pour from an empty cup. πŸ’™

One of the things I talk about often is that children borrow our nervous systems.

Whether you're a parent, therapist, teacher, or caregiver, your ability to stay calm and regulated during the hard moments can completely change how a child experiences those moments.

But here's something we don't talk about enough...

Who is helping the helpers?

So many of us spend our days supporting children, advocating for families, solving problems, and caring for everyone else that we forget our own nervous systems need care, too.

If you've been feeling overwhelmed, emotionally exhausted, or simply disconnected from yourself, I wanted to share a resource that I think many of you will appreciate.

A colleague of mine created **The Bridge Membership**, an online community designed to help women reconnect with themselves through practices that support nervous system regulation, including:

✨ Breathwork
πŸ§˜β€β™€οΈ Gentle yoga
🌿 Meditation
πŸ’™ Hypnotherapy
🌊 Guided energy work
🀝 Live community support

It's a beautiful reminder that healing and regulation aren't just for the children we supportβ€”they're for us, too.

As always, I only share resources that align with the regulation-first approach I teach. While my passion is helping children and the professionals who support them, I also know that one of the greatest gifts we can give a child is a regulated adult.

πŸ’™ Take care of yourself. Your nervous system matters, too.

I wanted to share a resource I think many of you will find genuinely valuable, both for yourselves and for the families you work with.

The Centre for Healing has a course called Trauma-Aware Parenting that aligns with many of the things that I talk about and address in therapy. They teach on many similar core concepts: the idea that a child's behavior, whether that's emotional dysregulation, shutdown, meltdowns, or difficulty with transitions, is a nervous system response, not a discipline problem.

What I love about this course is that it starts with the adult's nervous system first. Because we know that co-regulation is everything. A child can only access calm if there's a regulated adult in the room. This course gives parents and practitioners the understanding and tools to actually get there, not just in theory, but in the real moments when it's hard.

It covers nervous system development at every stage, co-regulation, how unprocessed experiences shape the way we show up for children, and practical tools families can use straight away. There's also personalized support built in -- students can ask questions about their specific circumstances under every lesson, and they get lifetime access to monthly live calls with the parenting coach.

It's self-paced with lifetime access, so there's no pressure to rush through it.

Why Your Child's Behavior Isn't What You Think It Is

You've tried calm voices, consequences, counting to ten.

And still the meltdowns keep happening. The overwhelm (yours or theirs). The guilt afterwards. The feeling that no matter how hard you try, something keeps getting in the way.

Here's what most parenting advice misses: your child's behaviour isn't a discipline problem. It's a nervous system response. And the way you respond to it is shaped by your own nervous system, by experiences from your own childhood that never fully got to heal.

That's not a failure. It's just how it works. And it can change.

Trauma-Aware Parenting is a complete online course from The Centre for Healing that helps you understand the biology behind your child's big emotions and yours. You'll learn how to regulate yourself in the hard moments, how to build genuine safety and connection with your child, and how to break the patterns that were passed down to you before they get passed down again.

What makes this different from every other parenting course: you're never left figuring it out alone. You can ask questions and share your specific situation under every lesson and get personalised guidance from your parenting coach. And with lifetime access to monthly live calls, you have ongoing support for as long as you need it, not just while you're working through the material, but as your children grow and new challenges come up.

The result isn't a child who behaves perfectly. It's a home that actually feels calm. A child who feels genuinely safe. And a parent who finally understands what's happening and knows what to do.

$497 Β· Self-paced Β· Lifetime access Β· Monthly live calls included Β· Payment plans available

CHANGE YOUR WORDS. CHANGE YOUR WORLD.
As therapists, educators, and parents, we often focus on changing behavior.

But what if we started by changing the words we use?
Because words shape how we see the child.
And how we see the child shapes how we respond.

The words we choose matter.
Not because we're trying to be politically correct.
But because language influences perspective.
And perspective influences intervention.
When we shift our perspective, everything changes.
The child hasn't changed.
The behavior hasn't changed.
But our ability to understand what is driving the behavior has.
And that's where meaningful support begins.

✨ Change your words. Change your world.
What's one phrase you've changed your mind about over the years?

Children can't respond to signals they don't recognize.

Over the years, I've worked with children who were labeled:
"Defiant."
"Noncompliant."
"Attention-seeking."
"Manipulative."
But when we looked deeper, the real issue often wasn't behavior at all.
It was constipation.
Interoception difficulties.
Anxiety.
Poor sleep.
Sensory overwhelm.
Nervous system dysregulation.
Fear.
A lack of body awareness.

The behavior was simply the visible part of the struggle.

When we focus only on stopping the behavior, we risk missing the reason behind it.
But when we understand the barrier, the behavior starts to make sense. And when the behavior makes sense, the path forward becomes clearer.

This is why I believe some of the most important questions we can ask are not "How do I stop this behavior?"

But instead: "What is driving this behavior?"

Because behavior isn't always behavioral.
Sometimes it's biological.
Sometimes it's neurological.
Sometimes it's emotional.
And sometimes it's a nervous system asking for help.

What behavior do you think is most often misunderstood?
