Available Bred ewes!

We will not be having an online sale since the ones I had intended to sell in it were sold privately. Huge thanks to Vanessa Boyd and S4K Family Farms for their exciting acquisitions!

But after this mornings head count, I’m still at about 3-5 head more than I’d like to be at going into the winter. Come visit the operation and tour and since I can’t decide what to cut loose, I decided a “you pick” is a better option for both of us. Starting prices are at $1000, otherwise we will figure out a way to lamb them out ourselves!

With the recent addition of more new small ruminant labs having success and becoming accessible, we want to offer support to veterinarians wanting to learn this procedure. Open to international opportunities and considering Race approved continuing ed hours if there is interest.

Rural Vet Network report

After this recent round of farm visits I felt compelled to discuss some common findings.

1. Now is always the time to manage body condition,separate and modify as needed. Ie don’t let pregnant animals get too fat regardless of species!
2. Sheep: Late gestation transition from grass to 50/50 alfalfa grass hay, Lactation should be best alfalfa you can get.
3. Parasites are like fleas, they can hit anyone, we can help with rescue protocols. Those that proclaim resistance is a bigger issue than non use of dewormers are wrong. Feel free to fight me on this!
4. CDT needed to dams at 1 month prior to lambing /kidding.
5. Have banamine dexamethasone excenel b complex and other things on hand are crucial first lines of treatments.
6. Learn how to pull blood and preg check and learn to tube lambs/kids.

I have truly enjoyed visiting with each producer and animal and appreciate the reception of our attempts to bring value and share knowledge with these VCPR visits! Thanks also to our team members for the organization to make these days efficient and engaging!
