June Resident Spotlight!
Meet Debra Reed — a strong, spirited woman with an incredible story and an unforgettable personality!
Debra was born in Virginia. She was married and has one son, who she proudly says “is a really great kid.” Growing up, Debra fondly remembers playing basketball in the driveway with her father and siblings. Her love for the game continued throughout high school, eventually earning her a full scholarship to the University of Wyoming, where she played basketball all through college.
While studying education, Debra says her favorite part of college was traveling to play basketball. She traveled all over the United States and Canada, proudly sharing that she had a “great long shot” and that her team won most of the games they played!
When asked if she taught her son to play basketball, Debra laughed and said, “I tried, but he just wasn’t into it.”
After college, Debra worked at the Appalachian Plant, teaching and promoting electricity. One fun fact about Debra is that she loves tattoos! She also wants everyone to know that she worked hard, earned her way through college, and takes no grief.
Her advice to everyone?
“Go for it!”
