It’s National Thrift Shop Day, so we put our own little spin on it and brought the thrift store to us! 🛍️

Magnolia Boutique was open for business today! Residents shopped, enjoyed coffee and donuts, and spent the morning socializing with each other. ☕🍩

They loved it so much they’re already asking if we can make it a monthly thing.

🍊 National Creamsicle Day called for a sweet little treat! Our residents enjoyed cooling off with the classic orange-and-vanilla favorite—and judging by the smiles, they hit the spot! 🧡🍦

Happy National Lighthouse Day! 🌊Our residents had fun getting creative today and making their own lighthouses out of cups and tea lights.

Since it’s National Farmers Market Week! 🌽🍅🍉🌻, Garner’s Produce joined us today, with a wonderful variety of fresh produce and homemade goodies. This gave so many of our residents the freedom to browse, shop, and pick out some of their favorite fresh items—something many don’t get the opportunity to do very often.

The weather couldn’t have been more beautiful, making it the perfect day to enjoy this special visit. Thank you to Garner’s Produce for graciously setting up for us and giving our residents the chance to enjoy a little piece of the farmers market experience.

🦈🎥🎬We wrapped up Shark Week with our very own Shark Tank!

Departments teamed up and went all in, pitching inventions, products, and ideas they thought could make life even better for our residents. Some ideas were realistic, some were just for fun, but every presentation was creative and centered around our residents. Our Resident Sharks listened to each pitch, asked questions, discussed the ideas together, and decided which one they wanted to “invest” in.

🏆💺Dogwood sharks invested in The Upright, a posture support idea presented by Krystal with Rehab.

🏆🤖Garden sharks invested in SAM, the food delivery robot presented by Shanda and Kendra.

🏆🍩Magnolia Manor sharks invested in the Sweet Morning Pastry Bar, presented by Ginger.

After presenting the winning teams with their Shark Tank checks and “We’re In!” certificates, everyone celebrated with shark fin cupcakes and Shark Attack drinks.

A special thank you to Lisa with Hospice of Virginia for providing the cupcakes and drink ingredients.

What a fun way to end an unforgettable Shark Week!

🦈🎬 Shark Week fun continued today!

Our residents enjoyed watching Soul Surfer, the inspiring movie based on the true story of surfer Bethany Hamilton and her incredible journey after surviving a shark attack.

Of course, no Shark Week movie would be complete without a shark-themed snack! 🍿🦈 Residents munched on buttery popcorn topped with cracker sharks and blue sprinkles while enjoying the movie together.

🚨 Shark Attack Update: The sharks have made their way to bingo! 🦈

But we couldn’t let the residents have all the fun, so the staff dove right in too! Everyone enjoyed a sweet beach-themed dessert with blue Jell-O oceans, graham cracker sand, gummy sharks, and colorful umbrellas before bingo began. 🌊🏖️

Safe to say the gummy sharks didn’t stand a chance! 💙

🦈 Northern Neck continues to be under shark attack… and we’re having a blast! 🌊

Today’s Shark Week adventures included testing our knowledge with shark trivia and our Assisted living residents took their turn at feeding the sharks.

The fun is far from over—there are still plenty of exciting shark adventures swimming our way this week. Stay tuned! 🦈💙

🦈 Shark Week fun is in full swing! Our LTC and Memory Care residents had a blast testing their aim with our “Feed the Sharks” bean bag toss game. Lots of laughs, a little friendly competition, and plenty of smiles made for a fintastic afternoon!

Over the past two years, our community has been incredibly generous in helping purchase items from our Activity Wishlist, and because of your kindness, we’ve been able to provide countless moments of joy, laughter, purpose, and connection for our residents.

We’ve carefully curated this year’s list with each item chosen specifically for the unique needs, abilities, and interests of our residents in Assisted Living, Long-Term Care, and Memory Care. From games and sensory items to craft supplies and activity materials, every item has a purpose and will be put to good use.
