We recently had the joy of joining Career Day at Takoma Park Elementary School in Maryland, and it was one of those mornings that reminded us why we do this work.
We spent the morning talking with hundreds of 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders about life as a therapist and business owner. Students who stopped by the table to ask a question, share a feeling, or name something they like about themselves went home with encouragement stickers and stress balls. Honestly, we could all use a little of that energy.
It was a privilege to be in the room alongside police officers, Supreme Court attorneys, environmentalists, midwives, and so many others, all showing up to help young people see how many paths are out there waiting for them.
Normalizing mental health starts early. And days like this one remind us that the conversation is already happening, one curious third grader at a time. đź’™
