💙 Did you know?

An estimated 1 in 20 Americans may have an FASD.

Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders (FASD) are a group of diagnosable conditions that can occur following prenatal alcohol exposure. FASD can have lifelong effects and may impact learning, behavior, mental health, sensory processing, physical health, and more.

FASD can sometimes be overlooked or misunderstood. Learning more about FASD can help us better understand the strengths, challenges, and support needs of the people we care for.

At Ptarmigan Connections, our team-based FASD clinic provides comprehensive evaluations for children and adolescents age 18 and younger.

If you have questions about whether an FASD evaluation may be appropriate, we encourage you to reach out.

Parents, caregivers, educators, healthcare providers, mental and behavioral health professionals, social workers, OCS caseworkers, and other members of a child's support team are all welcome to contact us.

You don't have to know whether FASD is the right fit before reaching out—we're happy to answer questions and help you determine whether an evaluation may be appropriate. 💙

🐾 A Friendly Reminder About Pets and Hot Vehicles 🐾

As temperatures rise, it's important to remember that a parked vehicle can become dangerously hot within minutes, even on days that don't seem excessively warm.

Leaving pets in a vehicle, even with the windows cracked, can quickly lead to heat exhaustion, heatstroke, organ failure, and tragically, death. Animals cannot regulate their body temperature as efficiently as humans, making them especially vulnerable to overheating.

Some signs of heat distress in pets include:
• Excessive panting
• Drooling
• Weakness or lethargy
• Vomiting
• Difficulty breathing
• Collapse

If you're running errands, please consider leaving your pet safely at home where they can stay cool and comfortable. If you see an animal in distress inside a hot vehicle, contact local authorities immediately.

A few extra minutes of planning can save a life. Let's all do our part to keep our furry family members safe this summer. ❤️🐕🐈

If it's too hot for you, it's even hotter for them.
