As a self-employed massage therapist, I plan my week and income in advance, so last-minute cancellations and no-shows have a bigger impact than many people realize.

A lot of people don’t realize that if I don’t work, I don’t get paid. That’s why I have a cancellation and no-show policy.

I completely understand that life happens. You might get sick, have an emergency, or something unexpected may come up. But when an appointment is canceled with less than 24 hours’ notice, it’s usually too late for me to fill that spot. I’ve already planned, prepared, and reserved that time specifically for you.

Think of it this way: imagine going to work and being told your paycheck was smaller because your scheduled hours disappeared at the last minute. Most people wouldn’t be okay with that—and for a small business owner, those missed appointments can make a real difference.

Charging a cancellation fee is never personal, and it’s never something I enjoy doing. It’s simply part of protecting my business so I can continue providing the best care for every client who walks through my door.

To all of my wonderful clients who respect my time, communicate with me, and understand why these policies are in place—thank you. Your support means more than you know. 🤍
