Alatheia Riding Center Alatheia empowers individuals through Equine Assisted Services in North Central Washington. Join us in transforming lives with our Norwegian Fjord horses.

We offer therapeutic riding, veteran support, and life/work skills for adults with disabilities. Alatheia Riding Center changes lives with the healing power of horses. Since 2011 we have served children and adults with physical and developmental disabilities and veterans from four North Central Washington Counties. Alatheia exclusively uses beautiful and gentle Norwegian Fjord horses, trained instructors and a dedicated team of volunteers to provide services. We are a member center of the Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship, International.

Sometimes the most powerful way to understand the healing power of horses is to hear it from the veterans whose lives have been changed by it.

Fridays mean one thing for Lindsay. She gets to go to Alatheia! Her dad, Ruben, shares that when she wakes up on Friday mornings, she can hardly wait to get here and be around the horses.

Lindsay is new to Alatheia this year. She is blind and has Level 3 autism. Each week, she rides her therapy horse Julle, with instructor Nancy Grette helping her learn to hold the reins, use the words “walk on” and “whoa,” and listen for directions.

Her mom, Tere, loves watching Lindsay in the arena. There are lots of smiles, and it’s easy to see how happy they both are during her lessons.

Ruben shared just how much their family needed this opportunity for Lindsay. There are very few activities in the community where she can participate in something she truly enjoys. At Alatheia, she gets to ride, learn new skills, spend time with horses, and simply enjoy being there.

And if it were up to Lindsay and her family, she’d be here several times a week!

For now, Fridays are pretty special. 🐴❤️

It all begins with a little girl and her therapy horse Marta. 🐴🩷

For Rowan, who has Level 2 autism, her time with Marta helps her be calm, build confidence, and feel more at ease. Her mom, Brooke, says riding simply “fills her cup.”

Brooke loves watching her daughter relax at Alatheia. Seeing Rowan’s mind quiet and her body settle brings a sense of comfort to Brooke, too.

Rowan’s morning lessons also make a difference in her school day. She leaves feeling calmer, happier, and more ready to learn, making the transition to school that much easier.

Her instructor, Stef, is helping Rowan build the skills and confidence to ride Marta more independently, learning to follow directions and work together as a team.

For Brooke, seeing her daughter happy, relaxed, and ready to take on the day means everything.

There’s something pretty special about the connection Rowan shares with her therapy horse Marta.

We love having you at Alatheia Rowan! 🤗

There’s a place for you at Alatheia.

As Alatheia begins an exciting new season of growth in our new home, we’re looking for more wonderful people to join our volunteer family.

Our volunteers are at the heart of what we do. They walk alongside our riders, care for our therapy horses, support our programs, and help create the welcoming community that makes Alatheia so special.

Whether you have experience with horses or have never stepped inside an arena, you can make a difference here. We’ll provide the training, and you provide the heart.

If you’ve been looking for a meaningful way to give back, meet some pretty incredible people, and be part of changing lives through the healing power of horses, we’d love to welcome you.

Come volunteer with Alatheia. Your time can change a life.
