Barclay Friends Older adults will find a spirit of community that embraces the realities of aging Basic Quaker values are reflected in the manner of care we provide.

Barclay Friends, an affiliate of The Kendal Corporation, provides long term nursing care, and post-acute rehabilitation in a state-of-the-art community in the borough of West Chester. Barclay Friends is dedicated to continuing to improve the care of the aging in the wider community. We strive to honor the spirit, humanness, and basic rights of each older person. We respond faithfully to the needs

of older people: the need for independence and self determination, the need to feel connected, and the need to have opportunities for learning, fun, reflection, and self expression. The Kendal affiliates' Values and Practices further explains our values and the spirit of community at Barclay Friends. While guided by the values of The Kendal System, each Kendal affiliate maintains an independence that fosters creative thinking.

On June 24th, we honored Barclay Friends residents Margaret and Al in Celebration of their 65th Wedding Anniversary.💍💕 The couple and their family shared photos of their life together. Al shared many wonderful memories of the early years as well as the entire 65-year journey together. The celebration included love songs that reflected who they are as a couple and the love they share. Congratulations to the couple!💖

Fresh from our garden and headed to our neighbors in need!💚 Thanks to the helping hands of our residents, volunteers, and team members, Barclay Friends recently donated 25 pounds of fresh produce to the West Chester Food Cupboard, including peas, spinach, lettuce, arugula, and cilantro.🫛🥬

Last week, Chester County celebrated some truly remarkable residents at its annual Centenarian Luncheon! 💯✨

We were proud to have four Barclay Friends residents among the 45 attendees who are 100 years old or older. Three of our residents recently celebrated their 100th birthdays, and one incredible resident is 108 years young!

It is an honor to care for and learn from these extraordinary individuals whose lives, stories, and wisdom span more than a century. ❤️
