Barclay Friends, an affiliate of The Kendal Corporation, provides long term nursing care, and post-acute rehabilitation in a state-of-the-art community in the borough of West Chester. Barclay Friends is dedicated to continuing to improve the care of the aging in the wider community. We strive to honor the spirit, humanness, and basic rights of each older person. We respond faithfully to the needs of older people: the need for independence and self determination, the need to feel connected, and the need to have opportunities for learning, fun, reflection, and self expression. The Kendal affiliates' Values and Practices further explains our values and the spirit of community at Barclay Friends. While guided by the values of The Kendal System, each Kendal affiliate maintains an independence that fosters creative thinking.

Barclay Friends had the privilege of welcoming a new group of student musicians to our campus for an amazing live musical performance for our residents on Sunday, August 30th.🎻🎶

Music Angels Inc. is a nonprofit organization with a mission to inspire and educate music students and musicians about the healing power of music, particularly through music therapy. The program features a wide variety of repertoire, from classical favorites and traditional works to popular music and memorable movie hits, offering something for every audience.

The string ensembles are primarily made up of talented student musicians, mostly middle and high school students, who volunteer their time and musical talents to perform for the community.

Residents and family members were moved by the beauty of the wide variety of pieces the students played. They heard popular classical arrangements as well as songs by the Beatles and Michael Jackson.

“I was very impressed with the Quality and Style of the young musicians”

We are grateful to the students, parents, and instructors for bringing such a beautiful program to our community. We look forward to hosting them again soon!

Yesterday was all about celebrating our amazing team at our Summer Staff Party!☀️🕶️

We had such a great time filled with good food, fun, laughter, and lots of love! From burgers, ribs, mac & cheese and pasta salad to our delicious lemonade station and desserts, there was something for everyone.

Our team also enjoyed massages, caricatures, fun mock awards, and amazing raffle baskets. We celebrated some truly deserving employees with awards like the Sunshine Award, Best Sense of Humor, and Best Team Player.🏆

A huge THANK YOU to everyone who helped make the day special and, most importantly, to our incredible employees for everything you do each and every day. You are appreciated, valued, and an important part of what makes our team so special!

This week, we wished Dr. Lawrence a retirement filled with good health, happiness, new adventures and countless memorable moments with family and friends. Joined by his wife and daughter, we celebrated his more than 28 years as a trusted advisor and guiding light in medical decision-making at Barclay Friends. His leadership, dedication, and compassion have had a lasting impact on countless residents, families, and healthcare professionals. While his presence will be greatly missed, we are grateful for the legacy he leaves behind and wish him all the best in this well-deserved new chapter of life.⛵️⚓️
