POV: You sent an email... and now your brain has convinced you that you've accidentally ruined your career because your sign-off sounded "too blunt" 🙃

If your brain has a habit of assuming the worst, you're not being dramatic or "too sensitive."

You're experiencing a brain that's trying to protect you.

Our brains evolved to scan for danger. The problem is that today's "danger" usually isn't a tiger—it's an awkward conversation, an unread text, a mistake at work, or uncertainty about what someone meant.

An anxious brain doesn't always distinguish between a life-threatening threat and an emotionally uncomfortable one. It just notices something that might be a problem and sounds the alarm.

The good news? Your brain can learn that not every uncomfortable moment is an emergency.

💬 What's the most ridiculous conclusion your anxious brain has ever jumped to? (Mine would definitely be, "They used a period instead of an exclamation point... they must hate me.")

Save this for the next time your brain starts writing a disaster movie based on one unanswered text.

Why can't I stop overthinking?

If you struggle with anxiety and overthinking, you might find yourself replaying conversations, second-guessing decisions, or trying to think your way to the “right” answer.

Overthinking is often your brain's attempt to create certainty.

The problem? Sometimes certainty doesn't exist.

So you think about it again. And again. And maybe one more time just to be sure. 😅

Therapy isn't about forcing yourself to “think positive.” It's about learning to recognize when your thoughts are helping you solve a problem—and when they're just keeping you stuck in a loop.

💬 Where does overthinking show up most for you: conversations, decisions, or when you're trying to sleep?

Save this for the next time your brain decides it needs to review the same situation for the 47th time.

A good reminder before the holiday weekend:

Not every thought needs to become words.

If what you're about to say isn't helpful, necessary, or kind, it might be better left unsaid. Relationships aren't strengthened by saying everything we think—they're strengthened by knowing when to pause.

Protect the relationship more than your need to make a point. ❤️

Defensiveness is often a protective response. When feedback feels threatening, our brains quickly move into self-protection mode: explaining, justifying, blaming, or shutting down.

The problem? Defensiveness makes it harder to understand what the other person is actually trying to communicate.

The next time you notice yourself getting defensive, pause and ask yourself:

💭 "What am I feeling right now?"
💭 "What am I afraid this feedback means about me?"
💭 "Is there even a small piece of truth here that I can be curious about?"

Understanding your reaction is often the first step toward responding differently.

Gaslighting makes you question yourself.

Greenlighting helps you trust yourself.

The difference isn't whether couples disagree—it's how they respond when someone says, "That hurt me." 🩶

My step-son asked me today, “Do you think it’s going to snow anymore?”

My nervous system: please no more surprises 😂

Spring is a good reminder that things can shift, soften, and warm up—even if it takes a while.

If you’re feeling a little “wintered,” you’re not alone. Be gentle with yourself as you thaw & enjoy the weather today. 🌷
