💉 Your GLP-1 injection technique matters more than you might think.
A few small changes can make injection day more comfortable, protect your skin, and help keep medication absorption more predictable.
One of the biggest things I remind patients about? Rotate your injection sites. Repeatedly injecting into the exact same spot can cause thickened or lumpy fatty tissue called lipohypertrophy — which may make absorption less predictable.
A few more injection-day reminders:
✨ Avoid hard, lumpy, bruised, irritated or scarred areas
✨ Rotate where you inject each week
✨ Let your alcohol wipe completely dry before injecting
✨ If storage instructions allow, let refrigerated medication warm naturally for a short time before injecting — never heat it
✨ GLP-1s are injected into subcutaneous fat, not muscle
✨ Don’t massage the area afterward
✨ If you’re ever unsure whether you received your full dose, don’t automatically inject more — contact your provider
Sometimes the smallest details make injection day so much easier. 🤍
