Thrive at Home: After-School Obstacle Course

After a full day of sitting, listening, and learning, kids often need a chance to move their bodies! Creating a simple obstacle course at home is a fun way to get the wiggles out while building important motor skills.

🏃 Try including:
• Hop over pillows
• Crawl under a blanket draped over chairs
• Balance along a line of painter’s tape
• Jump into laundry baskets or hula hoops
• Bear walk to the finish line

✨ Why it matters:
• Provides an opportunity for movement after a structured school day
• Supports balance, coordination, and motor planning
• Builds strength and body awareness
• Helps children transition from school to home routines
• Can improve attention and readiness for homework, dinner, or other evening activities

No fancy equipment needed—just a few household items and a little imagination! Even 5–10 minutes of purposeful movement can make a big difference.

Obstacle courses are more than just fun — they’re a great way to build strength, balance, coordination, motor planning, and confidence! 💛

Our kiddos are climbing, jumping, crawling, and problem-solving their way through each challenge while working on important skills they use every day. Watching them try, learn, and celebrate their accomplishments is what makes therapy so rewarding! 🌟
