Choice Recovery Counseling is a private practice, substance abuse counseling provider, offering a non-traditional approach to understanding and changing behaviors. Lacey Glueckert, Licensed Addiction Counselor, has been working in the substance abuse field since 2003. She is passionate about Choice Theory and Reality Therapy, an approach that encourages people to evaluate their choices in terms of

effective or ineffective rather than ‘good’ or ‘bad’. Every behavior is purposeful and ultimately our best choice at the time - even drug and alcohol use but we must have the information to choose different behaviors. CRC assists people in identifying how they can get closer to what they want by choosing more effective thoughts and actions through Individual Sessions and Low Intensity Outpatient Programming. DUI Evaluation and 16 Hour Seminars are offered to assist people in fulfilling court and DOT obligations. Information is focused not only on avoiding further alcohol or drug related legal charges, but truly increasing awareness of all substance related risk and allowing for clients to self evaluate changes they would like to make. Substance Abuse Professional (SAP) services are also offered to assist clients who have tested ‘non-negative’ for a DOT Safety Sensitive position. CRC’s main goal is to build relationships with people seeking change in their life after making ineffective alcohol and drug choices.

Final meeting regarding this issue will be held this Tuesday, June 2 at 8am in the Williams County Commission Room in the Admin Building on Broadway. There have been a lot of comments, feelings, and debated views on this, and any negative or destructive comments on this post will be deleted. I would invite you to attend that meeting if you are able. No matter what the outcome is, this public discussion on addiction and recovery resources needs to continue. The discussion surrounding misinformation about recovery communities needs to continue. The discussion about navigating reintegration to the community needs to continue. And building our community of recovery (even if we are told we aren't recovering the "right way"....ESPECIALLY if we are told that) needs to continue. There is a solid base of individuals who support each other in this community and are willing to step out of the darkness to face judgment, criticism, and resistance to explore what is possible moving forward. CRC is witness to that, and we are here for it...

If you attend on Tuesday, please choose kindness and acceptance as your guideposts.

Local residents, committee members cite transportation, safety concerns as reasons for denial

Another SoberAF and CRC behind-the-scenes birthday wish. This year more than ever my mother has been a loving, consistent, positive force. One of her first thoughts is always about giving to clients and participants at CRC, and she's always refreshing the stock of homemade goodies and farm eggs at the office. It's amazing to see the happiness that some people experience when they grab her homemade jelly or salsa. (There might be a fresh batch there right now!!) My mother has always been my biggest fan, and I'm sure my tendency to counter that by being my own worst enemy has been draining. But she has never backed off...a principle that CRC is founded on. This year more than ever she has shown up with supportive messages, hugs, and LaCroix :) Couldn't do this without you ma. Love you and Happy Birthday!
