You may have heard the term Leaky Gut (also known as intestinal permeability) more often lately. But what does it actually mean?
Your digestive system is designed with a protective barrier that allows nutrients to pass into your bloodstream while keeping harmful substances out. Every day, your gut works hard to defend against toxins, harmful bacteria, and undigested food particles.
When this protective barrier becomes damaged, unwanted substances can slip through the gut lining and trigger inflammation throughout the body. This breakdown in the gut barrier is commonly referred to as Leaky Gut.
A healthy gut plays a vital role in digestion, immunity, and overall wellness. When the gut lining becomes compromised, it can affect much more than just your digestive system.
Stay tuned for Part 2, where we'll discuss common signs that your gut may need support.
