For 40 years, AIDS Walk Delaware has made headlines, and we are grateful to the local reporters, photographers, and news outlets that have continued to tell this story.

The crowds may not look like they did in the 90s, when thousands came together at the height of the HIV crisis. That change reflects progress. But it does not mean the work is finished.

People across Delaware still need HIV testing, prevention, treatment, housing, food, mental health support, and a community that reminds them they are not alone.

Next Saturday, September 19, we will walk again in Wilmington and Rehoboth Beach. Forty years later, every step still matters.

Join us, donate, and be part of the next chapter of AIDS Walk Delaware.

The latest HIV surveillance report for Delaware has been released.

In August 2026, 5 new HIV infections were reported across the state, bringing the total number of new diagnoses to 66 so far this year. While this number is lower year-to-date than this time in 2025, it reiterates that the mission of AIDS Delaware to end the spread and stigma of HIV is far from done.

Before the walk begins, there is a quiet moment.

Then people arrive. Teams gather. Names are remembered. The energy builds. And then come the first steps.

Along the way, there is laughter, reflection, remembrance and purpose.

Every minute matters. Every step counts. Every dollar raised supports HIV testing, prevention, treatment and care. Forty years ago, walking was an act of protest, remembrance and love.

Forty years later, it still is.

On September 19, another generation will add its footsteps to that history. We hope you will join us.
