"Becoming a therapist has been a goal and a dream I have worked so hard to achieve, and I feel
incredibly grateful to be in a position to support others through life's challenges.
I work with adolescents and adults who may be struggling with anxiety, OCD, depression, grief,
trauma, stress, relationship concerns, or major life transitions. My goal is to provide a supportive,
nonjudgmental environment where clients feel comfortable being themselves. I recognize that
every person’s story, experiences, and goals are unique. Because of that, I take an individualized
approach to therapy, tailoring evidence-based treatment to each client’s specific needs while
working collaboratively to help them achieve their goals.
Prior to becoming a clinical mental health professional, I spent many years as an educator, which
gave me a better perspective on the challenges individuals face. It helped me have a better
understanding of how relationships and life experiences influence emotional well-being. That
experience continues to shape how I connect with and support my clients today.
I believe that therapy should feel collaborative, personalized, and approachable. Reaching out for
help can be difficult, but I am here to guide you through the process."

What makes Alliance Counseling different from those larger, online-only platforms?

Great question! While private practices and large online only-therapy platforms both provide psychotherapy services, there are some important differences in how care is organized and delivered.

We’re also aware of some downsides and concerns with larger online therapy platforms, like client-therapist mismatches, continuity of care issues, and questions around ethics, confidentiality, and data security.

Alliance Counseling is therapist-run and was created by psychologists and social workers in 2006. This means the group is still directly overseen, run, and staffed by licensed therapists with nearly two decades of continuity.

Alliance Counseling is a network of individual therapists in private practice, which means you work consistently with the same licensed clinician over time. You choose the provider you want to work with and continue seeing the same therapist throughout your care, unless a change is clinically indicated.

By contrast, many online therapy platforms are designed to connect large numbers of clients with extensive networks of providers. User reviews have noted that the matching process on some platforms can result in multiple provider changes before finding a good fit, which can be frustrating and delay meaningful care.

The focus at Alliance Counseling is on consistent, ethical, individualized care within a small group.

You can read more ways that receiving care in a small private practice differs from a larger, online-only platform here https://alliance-counseling.com/faq. Or reach out to us directly - we’re happy to answer questions!

When you hear those advertisements for online therapy, do you ever wonder if tele-health (aka online therapy) is available through a smaller, local practice?

Simply put - Yes, it is! Many therapists now see clients online and everyone at Alliance Counseling provides psychotherapy and counseling via telehealth, as well as in person.

Telehealth appointments are conducted through a secure, HIPAA-compliant video platform that allows you to meet with your therapist from the privacy and convenience of your home, office, or another appropriate location.

All you need is a reliable internet connection, a device with a camera and microphone (such as a computer, tablet, or smartphone), and a quiet, private location.

Alliance Counseling in the Community

We love the clinical work we provide in our offices, and we’re also very proud of our time spent volunteering and connecting with the community.

Here are some highlights outside the office, since last October:

- As part of OCD Awareness Week, Abby walked in the Delaware OCD Awareness Walk.

- Kris met with Peer Volunteers at Sean’s House in Newark, as part of their continuing training, presenting on mindfulness and stress reduction.

- In April, Kris appeared on the Practice Prosperity Podcast, speaking about anxiety, media overload, sleep, social comparison, private practice growth, and how therapists in private practice can build an emotionally and financially stable life.

- In June, Abby attended the Grand Opening of the New Mom School in Philadelphia.

- And Linda was very active in the the National Alliance for Eating Disorders, where she participated in the planning of the Mid-Atlantic Affiliate’s Delaware EDucational Training Day. Linda also co-facilitated free, weekly in-person eating disorder recovery group meetings in Wilmington.

Here comes summer! 🌞 Does summer ever feel like freedom and fun blended with a particular kind of pressure and stress?

While summer often means vacations and downtime, the season can also bring challenges, especially for those who thrive on routine and structure.

If this resonates with you, check out Dr. Amanda Anderson's blog post exploring ways for navigating the summer months with mindfulness, self-compassion, and a gentle approach to structure.

As the warmth of summer envelops us and the pace of life seems to slow down, it's easy to embrace the freedom and relaxation that this season promises. However, amongst the leisurely days and spontaneous adventures, it's...

Juneteenth, short for June Nineteenth, recognizes June 19, 1865, the day that enslaved Africans in Texas were informed of their freedom, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation.

Today, we honor Juneteenth, recognizing the resilience of African Americans and remembering that we all share the ongoing work of equality and justice.

Juneteenth. Freedom Day.
