The back-to-school scaries are real. 🍎📚

A new school year can bring a lot of “what ifs?” New teachers, new classmates, new routines, and uncertainty. For students with Tourette syndrome or OCD, those worries can feel even bigger.

If you’re heading back to school, take a moment to read these affirmations and remind yourself that you don’t have to be fearless to have a great year. You can feel anxious, have tics, experience OCD thoughts, and still show up as your authentic self.

Hi everyone!

I wanted to share a really special project my family had the opportunity to participate in. We were honored to partner with the Tourette Association of America to create a mini documentary about Tourette Syndrome!

It starts launching live on TV today through the end of 2027.

We are incredibly proud and honored to support the TS/Tic community with resources, visibility, and encouragement through this video! Please share and like to increase visibility and spread awareness!

Tics and compulsions can sometimes look similar, but they’re not the same.

A tic is a sudden movement or sound that’s often preceded by a physical urge (sometimes called a premonitory urge). A compulsion is a behavior performed to reduce anxiety or prevent a feared outcome related to obsessive thoughts.

Understanding the difference is important because the treatments are different. While tic disorders and OCD can occur together, an accurate diagnosis helps ensure the right treatment approach.

The Tourette Walk matters because it brings visibility to something that is so often misunderstood or ignored. It’s a chance to show kids and adults with Tourette Syndrome that they are not alone, and that their experiences are real, valid, and worthy of support.

It also helps break down stigma in a way conversations alone can’t always do. When people show up in person, walk together, and learn together, it shifts understanding into something real.

This walk is about community, awareness, and making space for people who navigate Tourette Syndrome every day.
