In Youngstown, Mercy Health is strengthening access to care by opening its new Community Health Resource Center and launching its Care-A-Van mobile health unit. The new 7,645-square-foot Community Health Resource Center serves as a centralized hub for community programming, prescription assistance, healthy cooking instruction, exercise programs and services for the community.
Located near Mercy Health — St. Elizabeth Hospital and along a major bus route, the center was intentionally designed to reduce transportation barriers and make services easier to access for community members. By bringing multiple programs and services together in one location, the center helps connect individuals to the broad range of outreach resources available through Mercy Health and its partners.
The market also celebrated the Blessing of the Care-A-Van, marking the final preparation phase before launching mobile health care services for uninsured community members. The Care-A-Van will help bring health care directly into neighborhoods where residents may otherwise struggle to access medical services.
Together, these initiatives directly address the community’s priority of access to care identified in the Community Health Needs Assessment (CHNA). Mercy Health — Youngstown continues to strengthen trust and engagement through long-standing community partnerships and events such as the 300 Sisters program, which promotes women’s health and wellness throughout the region.
