Foundation excavations are now underway for the Mountain View Cottages, while the first half of the basement column support foundations are being cast from 25 May 2026. Preparation for the tower crane foundation is also in progress, setting the stage for the next phase of vertical construction.

Manor House & Structural Progress

Construction at Cannon Brewery continues to advance across multiple areas of the site, with meaningful progress now visible within the Manor House.

The first third of the Manor House first floor has been successfully replaced with a new concrete slab, strengthening the structure and preparing it for the next phase. Excavation for the lift shaft has also been completed, with challenging rock conditions carefully managed along the way.

New brickwork is currently being constructed within the ground floor unit, signalling the transition from groundwork to vertical build.

Construction progress at Cannon Brewery continues to move forward with strong momentum.

The initial phase of the basement construction is now complete, marking a significant milestone for the development. Between 10 February and 24 April, 73 large diameter piles were installed 15 metres deep into the ground, 5,000 cubic metres of soil were excavated, and the basement walls were secured using reinforced shotcrete.

To protect the established Cork Oak trees on site, 30 specialised micro-piles have been installed for the Cork Oak Cottages. This allows for reduced foundation excavation depths and helps preserve the important root zones of these remarkable trees.

The Manor House has also been fully stripped of minor internal walls and finishes, while smaller outer structures have been removed where necessary in preparation for the next phase.

We are pleased to confirm that the main contractor, BASE Projects, formally commenced all building work on 24 April 2026. The anticipated completion date remains early 2028, subject to weather conditions over the next two winter seasons.

Every step brings Cannon Brewery closer to becoming a remarkable Manor Life community in the heart of Newlands.
