Just had an incredible weekend of intensive training, from 08:00–17:30 Friday to Sunday, with the next group of Psychologists and a Psychiatrist completing BrainWorking Recursive Therapy (BWRT®) Level 1 training. The beautiful winter weather in Durban was an added bonus.
I genuinely enjoy sharing this approach with fellow mental health professionals. In South Africa, where trauma exposure is common and access to ongoing therapy can be limited by financial constraints, many of us are looking for effective interventions that can help clients achieve meaningful and lasting change without prolonged distress. BWRT® offers a valuable addition to the therapeutic toolkit.
Today, these newly trained practitioners begin integrating BWRT® into their work with children, adolescents, and adults, both in-person and online. Ongoing support is available through myself and the South Africa team, and all practitioners are required to attend a compulsory supervision session within six months of training to help ensure safe, effective, and competent application of the method.
As a trainer and supervisor, I am passionate about helping mental health professionals develop practical, evidence-informed skills that can be implemented immediately. If your organisation, NGO, hospital, university, employee wellness programme, or healthcare service would like to explore BWRT® training for HPCSA-registered psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, or registered counsellors in the Durban area, I would be happy to discuss training opportunities.
