Enjoy a variety of foods

Variety is the secret ingredient to good health! No single food provides everything your body needs. By including a variety of foods from all food groups, you give your body the nutrients it needs to thrive. Aim for colour, balance, and variety on your plate every day.

Today, we honour the courage, resilience, and strength of every cancer survivor. đź’ś

National Cancer Survivors Day is a reminder that survivorship is more than a milestone — it is a journey that deserves ongoing support, compassion, and care. Nutrition, movement, rest, emotional well-being, and community support all play an important role in recovery and quality of life.

To every survivor, caregiver, family member, and healthcare professional: your strength and support matter.

Dietitians are healthcare professionals who use evidence-based nutrition to help people prevent disease, manage medical conditions, recover from illness, improve performance, and live healthier, more independent lives.

From hospitals and rehabilitation centres to community health, schools, private practice and aged care, dietitians play a vital role in every stage of life.

We translate complex nutrition science into practical, personalised solutions that help people heal, thrive and achieve their goals.

This Dietitians Week, we're celebrating a profession that empowers healthier choices, supports recovery, and makes a meaningful difference every day.

Because good nutrition doesn't just add years to life—it adds life to years.

Why does our work matter? đź’š

Because nutrition is never just about food.

It's about helping someone recover after illness.
It's about giving people the energy to do what they love.
It's about supporting strength, independence, confidence, and quality of life.

Every day, dietitians help people navigate health challenges, build sustainable habits, achieve meaningful goals, and develop a healthier relationship with food.

When people feel better, move better, heal better, and live better, nutrition has played a part in that journey.

That's why our work matters.

Dietitians Week is a reminder that what we do is so much more than a job—it's a calling.

I became a dietitian because I wanted to make a meaningful difference in people's lives. Nutrition has the power to restore strength, support healing, improve quality of life, and help people regain their independence. Whether I'm working with someone recovering from illness, managing a chronic condition, navigating weight challenges, or simply striving for better health, I am continually inspired by the resilience and determination of those I serve.

What I love most about this profession is that every person has a unique story, and nutrition allows me to be part of their journey toward better health and wellbeing. Seeing small changes lead to meaningful outcomes is what motivates me every day.

Being a dietitian is not just about food—it's about empowering people with knowledge, confidence, and practical tools to live healthier lives.

Supporting strength, healing, and independence through evidence-based nutrition—this is my why.

Healthy braai plates can still be delicious 🌱🔥

This smoky four-bean salad is a simple way to add more fibre, plant protein, and colour to your next braai. Fibre supports digestion, heart health, blood sugar control, and helps keep you fuller for longer. Buy a premade salad or simply make it at home.

✔️ High in fibre
✔️ Plant-based goodness
✔️ Easy braai side-dish idea
✔️ Great for meal prep and lunchboxes

Small healthy swaps can make a big difference over time đź’š
