A little peek inside JG’s new practice in Gardens 🌿

JG wanted the new space to feel warm, calm and comfortable. Somewhere children, teenagers, young adults and families can walk in, settle in and feel genuinely supported.

From 1 September, JG will be welcoming clients to his new psychology practice in Gardens, Cape Town.

The practice will offer psychological services for children, adolescents and families - including scholastic and diagnostic assessments.

Whether there are questions around learning, development, behaviour or a child’s overall functioning, the aim is to provide families with greater understanding, clear guidance and appropriate support.

This one means a lot.

After a lot of hard work, long hours and big dreams, I’m incredibly excited to share that from 1 September, my practice is expanding to Gardens, Cape Town.

From Paarl, to Worcester, and now Cape Town. I’m so grateful for how this journey continues to grow.

Thank you to every family who has trusted me, every colleague who has supported me and every person who has encouraged me along the way.

I can’t wait for this next chapter and to support even more children, parents and families.

📍 EXCITING NEWS, CAPE TOWN!

We’re so excited to share that JG is expanding his Educational Psychology practice to Gardens, Cape Town! 🎉

From 1 September, JG will be seeing patients in Cape Town every Monday and Tuesday, creating more opportunities to support children, teenagers and their families with thoughtful, individualised care.

This is an exciting new chapter for the practice, and we cannot wait to become part of the Cape Town community. 💙

A busy and rewarding week at West Coast College 🌱

JG spent time at the Malmesbury and Vredenburg campuses conducting career assessments, as well as assessments for examination accommodations such as additional time, prompters and separate venues.

Assessment is not about giving a student an advantage. It is about understanding their individual strengths and needs, removing unnecessary barriers and giving them a fair opportunity to show what they can do.

Grateful to play a small part in helping students move forward with greater clarity and support.

Hi, I’m JG 👋

I’m an Educational Psychologist and Family Practitioner, but more than anything, I’m someone who really values working with people and understanding their stories.

I work with children, teens, adults and families through therapy, assessments and guidance, especially when life, learning or relationships feel a little complicated.

I started this page to share more of what I do, what I care about, and some useful psychology along the way.

Sometimes the path to purpose begins with admitting that you need help.

I recently joined Zenobia on WinelandsTV’s podcast, Crisis, Coffee & Conversations, to speak about my journey into psychology and the personal experience that changed the direction of my life.

Seeking help was not a sign that I had failed. It became the moment I started understanding myself more honestly. That process eventually gave me the courage to leave a familiar career behind and pursue work that felt deeply meaningful.

Change can feel unsettling, especially when the life you have built no longer feels like the life you are meant to live. But paying attention to your mental health can open the door to clarity, growth and a renewed sense of purpose.

Thank you to Zenobia and the WinelandsTV team for creating a space where honest conversations can happen.
