TRIKONASANA - TRIANGLE POSE
Trikonasana, Triangle Pose, appears in many traditions of modern yoga, but the way we enter, hold and understand the posture can vary considerably.
In Ashtanga Yoga, Utthita Trikonasana appears early in the standing sequence. The feet, legs, pelvis, spine and gaze are organized with precision, while the breath gives rhythm and steadiness to the shape.
Rather than approaching the posture as an isolated stretch, we meet it as part of a continuous method: breath, movement, bandha and drishti working together.
In other yoga traditions, Triangle Pose may be held for longer, approached with different alignment principles, or explored with props and variations.
What remains fascinating is the geometry of the posture itself. Trikonasana asks us to create space while remaining grounded: strong legs, an expansive spine and a body extending simultaneously in different directions.
A seemingly simple standing posture becomes an exploration of stability and expansion.
