Pregnancy and the postpartum period can bring many changes, including changes in sleep, nutrition, hydration, weight and facial appearance.

Following the birth of her baby, this patient described feeling that her upper face appeared more depleted, creating greater visual heaviness through the lower face.

Her consultation considered her general health, medical history, concerns and treatment goals. We also discussed the importance of addressing broader health or nutritional concerns with her usual healthcare team where appropriate.

Following assessment and informed consent, an individualised treatment plan incorporating platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) and a collagen-supporting procedure was developed, focusing on selected areas of the upper face and overall facial balance.

Postpartum recovery is different for every person, and cosmetic treatment is never one-size-fits-all. A consultation with our registered nurses includes discussion of suitability, alternatives, limitations, expected recovery and potential risks.

Potential risks vary according to the procedure and may include pain, bruising, swelling, infection, asymmetry or an outcome that does not meet expectations. Results vary between individuals, and the outcome shown is not a guarantee of what another patient may experience. Images are shared with patient consent.

For those considering treatment following pregnancy, book a consultation to discuss your concerns and whether treatment may be appropriate for you.

Melasma is a common pigment concern that can be influenced by hormones, UV exposure, heat, inflammation and genetics.

This result followed a personalised plan including three sessions of our pigment peel + microneedling protocol, alongside supportive Synergie home care.

Treatment suitability, response and maintenance needs vary from person to person. Melasma can reoccur so ongoing sun protection, barrier support and appropriate pigment-regulating skincare are key parts of management.

HYDRATION IS PART OF HEALTHY SKIN FUNCTION

Skin hydration is about more than surface moisture.
Fibroblasts are cells within the dermis responsible for producing key components of the skin’s extracellular matrix, including collagen, elastin and fibronectin. These cells function within a complex, water-rich environment that supports cellular communication and normal tissue function.

Hyaluronic acid is naturally present within this extracellular matrix and has a significant capacity to bind and retain water. Supporting hydration within the dermal matrix - may help create conditions that support fibroblast activity.

Laboratory studies have found that combinations of hyaluronic acid and amino acids can increase fibroblast proliferation and the expression or synthesis of collagen, elastin and fibronectin.

Over time, supporting these processes may contribute to improvements in skin hydration, elasticity, texture and firmness. Individual responses and outcomes will vary.
The evidence cited relates primarily to laboratory-based fibroblast research and supports the proposed biological mechanism; it does not guarantee an individual clinical result.

Ageing is not simply about lines or volume loss. It reflects progressive structural change within the skin and underlying extracellular matrix (ECM) - the complex scaffold responsible for skin strength, elasticity, hydration and repair.

Over time, collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid production decline. Fibroblast activity slows, vascular support diminishes, and chronic low-grade inflammation accelerates degradation of the ECM architecture. The result is often skin thinning, creping, laxity, textural change and reduced resilience throughout the face and neck.

At Fresh Faced, our approach to skin rejuvenation is centred on regenerative medicine and evidence-based skin restoration. Rather than relying on a single modality, we carefully assess the quality and function of the skin itself to develop advanced treatment plans designed to support collagen remodelling, improve dermal integrity and restore healthier cellular function.

Using combinations of regenerative therapies, biostimulatory treatments, advanced resurfacing technologies and tailored skin health protocols, we focus on improving the environment in which skin cells function — encouraging stronger, healthier and more resilient skin over time.

The face and neck age as a connected anatomical unit, and meaningful rejuvenation requires an approach that respects both structure and skin quality. The goal is not to alter identity, but to restore vitality, strength and refinement in a way that still looks entirely like you.

At Fresh Faced Clinic we believe sophisticated aesthetic medicine should prioritise skin health, longevity and natural outcomes above trends.

*Please be aware that this post is general education in nature and if you’re considering treatments; you require a personalised consultation with a qualified health professional to discuss the risks of cosmetic treatments and whether you’re a suitable candidate. Individual outcomes can vary.

Melasma is complex, and effective treatment starts with respecting this!

In this case, we followed our targeted melasma protocol, intentionally avoiding laser-based treatments.

Instead, the focus was on regulating inflammation, supporting the skin barrier, and addressing pigment at its source.

Melasma is not just a surface-level concern. It is influenced by a combination of internal and external factors, which is why every plan at Fresh Faced includes a detailed, holistic assessment.

This may include UV exposure, hormonal influences, stress, and diet.
From there, we create a bespoke pathway combining in-clinic treatments with targeted home care to calm melanocyte activity, strengthen the skin barrier, and gradually improve overall clarity and radiance.

If you are struggling with persistent pigmentation, we can guide you through a more considered and effective approach.

Real, lasting skin change comes from stepping back and looking at the whole picture.

Not just what we can see on the surface; but how the skin is functioning, how it’s responding to stress, hormonal shifts, and the subtle structural changes that come with time and motherhood.

With careful, considered treatment planning, we focus on restoring balance.

Supporting the skin barrier, encouraging healthy collagen activity, and gently refining facial proportions (all in a way that feels natural and respectful of your features!)

Nothing rushed. Nothing excessive.
Just a series of thoughtful treatments that build on each other over time.

Because when the skin is supported holistically, the outcome isn’t just clearer or smoother skin, it’s that sense of looking in the mirror and feeling more like yourself again.

If your skin feels different, or a little out of sync, we’re here to guide you back to balance.

My sensitive skin girlies, this one’s for you!

If you’re used to burning, stinging or flushing when you try new products, your skin may be asking for barrier support rather than more actives.

Sensitivity is often linked to dehydration, impaired barrier function and environmental stress, not just your ‘skin type’

Keeping things simple, with the right range, goes a long way.

A side profile tells a quiet story about how the face changes over time.

With age, several structural changes occur beneath the skin. The cheek fat pads gradually shift in a downward vector, reducing mid-face support and allowing volume to settle lower in the face. At the same time, the cervicomental angle (the angle between the chin and neck) can soften as tissues lose elasticity and the platysma and skin become more lax.

Many people also notice submental fat under the chin becoming more prominent and the jawline appearing less defined. Together, these changes can alter the contour of the lower face and neck.

The good news is that thoughtful, evidence-based treatments can support these structures and restore balance to the profile.

For suitable patients, treatment may include:
• PDO threads to provide support to the lower face and jawline and to address stubborn submental fullness

• Skin health and regenerative treatments to improve dermal strength and elasticity

The goal is not to change the face, but to restore support, improve contour, and maintain healthy skin.

Every face ages differently, which is why personalised assessment and treatment planning are important.

If you’re concerned about your jawline, neck contour, or profile changes, we’d love to guide you through your options.
