June 5th coincides with the anniversary of the first official reporting of what became known as the AIDS epidemic on 5 June 1981.

It was on this date when the United States' CDC reported on five cases of a mysterious disease affecting young gay men.

Join us this Thursday 5 June at 57 Hyde Street to reflect and raise awareness of issues, needs, and the stories carried by HIV Long-Term Survivors.

IDAHOBIT never stops being important.

We've made significant progress on LGBTIQA+ rights, but discrimination still persists. We see this in our schools, in workplaces, and in the media. This week’s events at Reynella East College in Adelaide are a clear example.

But progress continues, even when there are setbacks.

So today, our message to allies isn't "do better".

It's thank you β€” to those who continue to stand up against discrimination and treat q***r people with the dignity and respect everyone deserves.

Now open: Australia’s largest LGBTIQA+ health and wellbeing survey!

https://tinyurl.com/PrivateLives4

If you’re LGBTIQA+ and 18+, take the survey now.

If you know any LGBTIQA+ folks, please share this post widely!

Private Lives 4 is the fourth iteration of this landmark survey, and we need LGBTIQA+ adults to tell us about their health, wellbeing, lives, challenges, joys and communities.

Results from this survey - funded by the Australian Government Department of Health, Disability and Ageing - will help inform policy, advocacy, service providers, health professionals and more about the needs, strengths and priorities of LGBTIQA+ adults in Australia.

Our major population surveys are the largest source of Australian data on the health and wellbeing of our communities, so we need as many people as possible to participate!

Protests targeting an IDAHOBIT event at a school in Adelaide this morning.

This is exactly why these days exist β€” young people should be able to show up safely, without intimidation.

More below. ⬇️

Today’s scenes outside Reynella East College were deeply concerning.

Schools choosing inclusion are choosing kindness, safety and respect for every student.

We stand with the students, staff, families and allies at Reynella East College, and with every young person who deserves to feel safe and valued at school. πŸ’™πŸ³οΈβ€πŸŒˆ
