🫧 Bubbles = Big communication opportunities in tiny moments!
Something as simple as bubbles can be a powerful tool in Speech Pathology sessions and at home 🧠💬✨
Here’s how we use bubble play in a neuroaffirming, play-based way:
🗣️ Speech Sound Development
• Repeated, natural practice of sounds: “pop, blow, up, more”
• Environmental sound play: “p, b, w” in fun contexts
• Short phrases: “pop it!”, “more bubbles!”, “big bubble!”
• Motivation for spontaneous speech without pressure
💬 Language Skills
• Core words: more, go, stop, up, down, pop
• Requesting: “more bubbles please” (spoken, signed, AAC)
• Early concepts: big/little, fast/slow, in/out
• Following directions: “Pop the big one!”
• Turn-taking language: “my turn / your turn”
🧠 Prelinguistic & Social Communication Skills
• Joint attention (shared focus on bubbles)
• Anticipation (waiting for the “pop!” moment)
• Eye gaze shifts between adult and bubbles
• Turn-taking in play
• Shared enjoyment and connection 💛
✋ Motor & Sensory Development
• Reaching, jumping, and tracking movement
• Coordination (catching/popping bubbles)
• Breath control (blowing bubbles)
• Sensory regulation through calming movement and visual input
