Do you think you might have ADHD?

ADHD looks different for everyone, but here are five common signs that adults often notice:

🧠 1. Your mind is constantly busy
You may find it difficult to switch off, with thoughts jumping from one thing to the next.

⏰ 2. Time seems to disappear
Running late, underestimating how long things take, or leaving tasks until the last minute can be common.

📋 3. Starting is hard... finishing is harder
You might have plenty of great ideas but struggle to begin or complete everyday tasks.

🎯 4. You can focus for hours... sometimes
ADHD isn't a lack of attention. Many people experience hyperfocus, becoming completely absorbed in something they find interesting while struggling to focus on less engaging tasks.

💬 5. Everyday life feels harder than it should
Keeping on top of emails, paperwork, appointments, household tasks or juggling multiple responsibilities can feel overwhelming.

While these experiences can be part of ADHD, they can also occur for many other reasons. That's why a comprehensive assessment is important.

At ProMind Psychology, our experienced psychologists provide evidence-based ADHD assessments for adults, helping you gain clarity, understanding and practical recommendations for the future.

And if you do meet criteria, we have a consultant psychiatrist who can discuss medication pathways where appropriate.

If you've been wondering whether ADHD could explain some of your lifelong experiences, we're here to help.

The worry appointment 🧠

If your mind worries all day, don't fight it.

Instead: Choose a 15-minute "worry time" each day.

When worries pop up outside that time, simply remind yourself:
"I'll think about this during my worry appointment."

It sounds simple, but studies show this can reduce the amount of time people spend caught in repetitive worry.

When we avoid situations that make us anxious, our brain never gets the opportunity to learn that they may actually be safe. Over time, our world can become smaller as anxiety takes up more space.

With the right support, gradually facing fears at a pace that feels manageable can help retrain the brain and build confidence.

At ProMind Psychology, our psychologists work alongside you to understand your anxiety, develop practical coping strategies, and support you in taking small, meaningful steps towards the life you want to live.

You don't have to face anxiety alone, and you don't have to wait until it feels overwhelming before reaching out.

Passengers on the bus 🚍

Imagine your thoughts as passengers on a bus. Some are helpful, others are loud, anxious or critical.

You don't have to throw them off the bus.

You don't have to believe everything they say.

You can simply notice they're there... and keep driving towards the life that matters to you.

It’s heartbreaking to see just how many young people are struggling.

Recent Australian data shows that almost 4 in 10 people aged 16-24 experienced a mental health disorder in the past year, with anxiety and depression being among the most common challenges.

The good news is this:

Anxiety and depression are treatable.

The earlier someone reaches out, the sooner they can begin learning strategies to manage their thoughts, emotions and challenges before they become overwhelming.

Asking for support isn’t a sign of weakness. It’s a sign that your mental health matters.

At ProMind Psychology, our psychologists work with adolescents and young adults every day, providing a safe, supportive space to understand what’s going on and build practical skills for moving forward.

Because no young person should feel like they have to navigate this alone. 💙

A gentle reminder

You don't need to earn rest.

You don't need to reach breaking point before asking for help.

You don't need to wait until things are "bad enough."

When we feel stuck, our first instinct is often to try harder.

But sometimes, the breakthrough doesn't come from doing more.

It comes from seeing things differently.

Therapy offers a safe space to explore new perspectives, build practical strategies, and discover ways forward that you may not have considered before.

Sometimes, a small shift in thinking can create a big change in how life feels.

If you've been thinking about reaching out for support, now may be the perfect time. We're delighted to welcome two new psychologists to the ProMind Psychology team, helping us provide greater availability for new and existing clients.

Because sometimes, a different perspective is where positive change begins.
