Strength training , in its more intense forms, can mean lifting big weights and long bars.

But it doesn’t start there (and doesn’t have to end there if you don’t want it to). It’s literally movements you do every day, with a little extra load. We add more load as you get stronger.

If the progression is done slowly and with support, it doesn’t need to be intimidating.

We are starting our first intake of our online 8 week supported program, with fortnightly live support on 8 June.

The TBS or trabecular bone score looks at the actual structural integrity of the insides of your bones, not just the density. A high score means a stronger structure.

The FRAX assessment tool takes into account various factors to consider your risk of fracture in the next 10 years (age, fracture history as well as T score). This is often used to guide clinical decisions (e.g. whether to start medication).

One of the hardest things about trying to get into the habit of exercising is forming that habit in the early stages.

I’ve found that trying to do this on your own is nearly impossible for most people, and that people do much better with a little bit of support in the early stages.

Starting on the 8th of June we are launching a live supported version of our 8 week program , offering fortnightly live group check ins to keep you on track. You can sign up any time in the 8 weeks, though there will only be the 4 pre-planned group calls.

Had fun doing mixed doubles over in South Korea the other week! Second time we’ve done a “destination Hyrox” (last time hong kong).

We essentially didn’t really train for this one specifically - I’d done solo a month prior, my partner did a half marathon in March - so we had a base going & we did two specific training sessions before sickness hit the household and derailed any further efforts!

TBH I’m glad we weren’t really aiming for a PB because holiday mode and Hyrox mode are not conducive 😂 a 9h flight the day before, a couple of drinks on the plane, no where nearby the venue (which was ~ 2h away from where we were staying) to get quick food or gels - total rookie error we had nothing on us with an hour to spare and starving 😅 I would have been so panicked if we were aiming to get a particular time but in this case it was just a bit funny.

We ended up doing a similar time to every other time (1:24) with the least amount of prep and it was honestly really comfortable. Felt really fine compared to the first time 2 years ago when I’d only just started really doing cardio again and was in shock 😅

If we want to get faster clearly we need to actually prepare and definitely all comes down to improving our running pace, a few half marathons coming up, but not going to put too much pressure - having no real goal was really pleasant 😊

We are excited to invite you to our free webinar on Wednesday 3 June at 6.30pm AEST.

It will be a 30 minute live Q&A session with physiotherapist Frances.

We will cover topics such as:

* The best type of exercise to improve bone health and strength
* How to safely get started if you’ve never done strength training before
* How often and how much you need
* How to train around injuries (though specific personalised advice cannot be given)

Please submit questions beforehand (or come along with them on the day).

A replay will be emailed after the session for those of you who cant attend.

Class schedule as at May 2026. The green dots are guaranteed vacant spaces. Most of our clients have ongoing, permanent bookings, and we are almost full of those at Bowen hills!

Despite us nearly being booked up there, at any given week, ~20 spaces are vacant due to people being away, that we fill with people from the waiting list or who book online casually. & We have a few more class time options that we can start up when we need them.

For now, we have a few more vacancies at Arthur st, including after hours/ weekend options.

Thanks so much for coming and supporting

Super fun morning, I hope to host again!

1140 cheese sandwiches ready to go to kids in Brisbane schools who would otherwise go without.

Eat up is looking for more Brisbane businesses to get involved with hosting sessions - I recommend it 😊😊😊
