Whatever your answer is, there is no right or wrong. Every mum's breastfeeding journey is different and that's completely okay.

Sadly some mums who have tried expressing, end up feeling stressed and feel they have failed. They believed something was wrong and that they would have no milk for their baby.

You will be surprised how many mums actually dont get any colostrum, or dont the first few times but keep practising and eventually get a drop or 2

Not being able to collect colostrum before birth is no indication of what your supply will be like after birth 🌸

Feeling stressed because you've tried to express antenatally and nothing is coming out.

You're not alone. Try not to feel disheartened. It doesnt mean something is wrong. Not seeing colostrum before your birth doesn't mean you wont have any for your little one, once it arrives

If you're birthing team has recommended antenatal expressing and its safe for you to do so, keep practising. Even if you're not collecting colostrum, you're becoming familiar with your breasts and learning a skill that can be helpful once your baby arrives.

Once your little one is born, your milk making hormones kick in and your body starts increasing your milk supply. Your baby's feeding will then help your body build and adjust your milk supply to meet their needs

Trust your body, You're already doing a fantastic job growing your little one

Got questions on antenatal expressing feel free to DM me

Share this with any expectant mums who may be having doubts on their ability or needs some reassurance 🌸

Engorgement, latch struggles and sore ni***es often go hand in hand but most mums don't realise they're connected.

When your milk starts to come in your breasts can feel rock hard and your ni***es can flatten making it almost impossible for your baby to latch properly leading to a baby fussy at the breast and sore ni***es

If you're in the thick of it right now, you don't have to figure it out alone. DM me or reply below if you would like more support or information on some handy techniques to try

Save this for when you might need it or share it to a new mum who might appreciate it.

I recently sat with a mum who apologised three times for how messy her house was
But guess what, I didn't notice the mess.

However what i did notice was how hard she was trying.
How exhausted she was
How much she loved her baby

That's what I see when I walk through someone's door

Don't let this hold you back, from reaching out

If you're in the thick of it right now - you're doing so much better than you think 🌸

I'm here to offer you guidance and to support you through your journey.
Regional home visits and online consults available.
DM if you would like more information or to make a booking.

One of the most common concerns I hear from breastfeeding mums is about their milk supply.

When I’m supporting a new mum and bub, these are a few of the things I look at to help reassure me that feeding is going well - which you could check too
- nappy outputs,
- weight gains,
- baby's feeding patterns,
- how baby is latched and sucking at the breast,
- how content baby is

If you’re worried about your milk supply or feeding just isn’t feeling right, you're always welcome to reach out for some extra support

Sometimes, its just a tweak here and there plus a bit of reassurance that can make all the difference

Save this post as a handy reminder of the signs your little one is getting enough milk
