Informed consent is more than signing a form 🤍

True informed consent means women deserve:
✨ Clear information.
✨ Understanding of benefits and risks.
✨ Time to ask questions.
✨ Space to make decisions without pressure.

It means being part of the conversation; not simply being told what will happen.

At Connected Midwifery, we believe women deserve respectful, evidence-based discussions surrounding their care, pregnancy, labour, birth, and postpartum journey.

You are allowed to ask questions.
You are allowed to seek understanding.
You are allowed to take time to make informed decisions about your body and your baby.

Because informed women make empowered decisions đź’›

Sometimes women don’t enjoy pregnancy… and that’s okay 🤍

Not every woman feels glowing.
Not every woman loves every moment.
And not every pregnancy feels easy.

Pregnancy can bring:
✨ exhaustion
✨ nausea
✨ anxiety
✨ discomfort
✨ emotional overwhelm
✨ identity shifts

And sometimes women carry guilt for not enjoying a season they thought they “should” love.

At Connected Midwifery, we want women to know: You are not a bad mother for finding pregnancy hard.

You can feel grateful for your baby while also acknowledging that pregnancy can be physically and emotionally demanding.

Both things can exist at the same time đź’›

Sometimes breastfeeding is hard 🤍

Not because you’re failing.
Not because your body is broken.
And not because you’re doing something wrong.

Breastfeeding is learned by both mother and baby; together.

Sometimes it happens naturally straight away.
Sometimes it takes support, time, reassurance, positioning adjustments, and patience.

There can be cracked ni***es, cluster feeding, exhaustion, questions around supply, emotional overwhelm, and moments where you wonder if you’re getting it right.

And that’s okay.

At Connected Midwifery, we want women to know that needing support with feeding is incredibly common. Seeking help is not weakness; it’s support in action.

Whether your feeding journey feels smooth or challenging, your worth as a mother is never measured by how feeding unfolds.

You deserve support, education, and compassionate care through every stage of the journey đź’›

What we’re seeing more of in maternity care… 🤍

✨ Overwhelmed mothers
✨ Isolated postpartum experiences
✨ Anxious pregnancies
✨ Women craving continuity and connection
✨ Women wanting informed conversations surrounding their care

Modern motherhood is asking a lot of women; often without the village and support systems that once existed around them.

And more than ever, women are seeking care that feels:
✨ Personal
✨ Relationship-based
✨ Respectful
✨ Emotionally supportive

At Connected Midwifery, we believe maternity care should support the whole woman; not just the pregnancy.

Because how women are cared for matters deeply đź’›

Birth changes more than your body 🤍

It changes:
✨ your identity
✨ your priorities
✨ your relationships
✨ your nervous system
✨ the way you see yourself
✨ the way you see the world

Birth is more than a physical event; it is a transformation.

And while so much attention is placed on physical recovery postpartum, many women are also navigating emotional, mental, and spiritual shifts as they step into motherhood.

At Connected Midwifery, we believe women deserve support through all parts of this transition; not just the physical recovery.

Because the woman who walks into birth… and the woman who walks out…
are rarely the same đź’›

This is your reminder… 🤍You don’t need to earn rest in pregnancy. You are growing a human.Your body is working constantly...

This is your reminder… 🤍

You don’t need to earn rest in pregnancy.

You are growing a human.
Your body is working constantly; even when you’re sitting still.

And yet so many women feel pressure to:
✨ keep pushing
✨ stay productive
✨ minimise their exhaustion
✨ “keep going” no matter what

Rest is not laziness.
Rest is physiological.

Sometimes the most productive thing you can do in pregnancy is slow down, nourish yourself, and listen to what your body is asking for.

At Connected Midwifery, we want women to know that needing rest doesn’t mean you’re weak. It means your body is doing important work.

You do not need permission to slow down.
You do not need to justify exhaustion.
And you certainly do not need to “earn” rest 💛

Birth environment affects labour more than people realise 🌿

Birth is not just physical; it’s deeply hormonal, emotional, and influenced by how a woman feels within her space.

When women feel safe, calm, private, and supported, the body is better able to release oxytocin; the hormone that helps labour progress.

But fear, stress, constant interruption, bright lighting, and feeling observed can increase adrenaline, which may impact labour physiology.

This doesn’t mean birth has to look one specific way.
It simply highlights how important environment, support, and emotional safety truly are during labour.

At Connected Midwifery, we believe creating a calm, respectful birth space matters; because women matter.

Birth changes when women feel safe 🤍

27/05/2026

POV: You finally feel listened to 🤍

Not rushed.
Not dismissed.
Not feeling like “just another appointment.”

But truly listened to.

For so many women, continuity of care changes everything; because feeling safe and heard during pregnancy can completely shift the way women experience their care.

Sometimes women don’t need more information.
Sometimes they need:
✨ Time
✨ Reassurance
✨ Support
✨ Someone who actually knows their story

At Connected Midwifery, we believe women deserve care that feels personal, respectful, and relationship-based.

Because feeling heard matters more than people realise đź’›

26/05/2026

Sometimes motherhood doesn’t look how you imagined 🤍

Sometimes it’s slower.
Sometimes it’s heavier.
Sometimes it’s messier than the version you pictured before your baby arrived.

It can look like crying while holding the baby you prayed for.
It can look like loving your baby deeply while also feeling overwhelmed.
It can look like exhaustion, identity shifts, healing, and learning all at once.

And none of that makes you a bad mother.

Motherhood was never meant to be perfect.
It was never meant to be performed.
It was always meant to be supported.

At Connected Midwifery, we believe women deserve honest conversations around pregnancy, birth, and postpartum; not just filtered versions of motherhood.

If this season feels different than expected, you are not alone. And you are doing far better than you think đź’›
