Last night, I finished writing a funeral service at 9.56pm!
I know because I save each service with the time I finished it. And that time isn’t unusual.
Much of my writing happens at night or on weekends. Shi is often still designing at night too, working through proofs, edits and all the back and forth that goes into getting everything just right.
We put so much of ourselves into what we do because we know just how much it matters. We desperately want to get it right for you, and that responsibility doesn’t leave our minds when the office closes.
But we’re people too. And what we do is already hard, being abused, insulted or disrespected only makes it harder.
Often we're met with feelings of overwhelm, frustration and anger, and face it with patience and compassion. Hoping for kindness and respect in return.
When we give you a date for photos, music or information, there’s a reason for it. Beyond that date are hours of work that go unseen, and other families deserving for us to put the same time, care and effort into their loved ones farewell.
When visiting us, please be on time, bring only the key decision-makers to arrangement meetings, and honour our timeframes. These simple things help us give every family the time and care they deserve.
We put our hearts into this. Please work with us, and help us help you.
