"What does good care actually look like after service?"

Our founder, Chief Medical Officer and Head Psychiatrist, Dr Alex Lim, sat down with Greg Ross on The Last Post Radio Show to talk honestly about mental health care for the veteran community, the transition out of service, what a considered model of care looks like in practice, and where treatment is heading.

If you're a veteran, a partner, or a family member trying to work out your options, it's a grounded conversation about how this care is actually thought about.

It's also worth a listen for GPs and advocates supporting the veteran community.

One of the approaches Alex discusses is ReviveMed, our infusion therapy program for people living with treatment-resistant mental health conditions. It's delivered in a hospital setting in Canberra and Adelaide, and we currently have capacity for new patients.

Wait time and cost – for many veterans, these are the two biggest roadblocks to getting a psychiatric assessment for a DVA claim.

We've built our Veteran Services program to remove both barriers:

▫️ Initial psychiatric assessments within 14 days of referral

▫️ No out-of-pocket cost to veterans

🇦🇺 Appointments are done via telehealth anywhere across Australia.

Getting started is simple.

Speak with your GP and ask for a referral to Zed3 Veteran Services. Your GP can email it to [email protected].

Once we receive it, our intake team will contact you within two business days.

Have questions first, or not sure where to start? Call us on 02 6109 8830, and we'll talk you through it.

This applies to currently serving ADF members as well as veterans.

And if you're supporting a veteran in your life, you're welcome to share this with them or reach out on their behalf.

Conversations about mental health matter. So, when we talk about it openly, it chips away at the stigma and reminds people they’re not the only one going through it.

The 2020–2022 National Study of Mental Health and Wellbeing (NSMHW) estimates:

▪️ 22% of the population (4.3 million people) aged 16–85 had experienced a mental illness in the previous 12 months

▪️ While 43% of the population (8.5 million people) had experienced a mental illness during their life.

Behind every statistic is a person, and open conversations can help more people feel seen, heard, and supported.

Take an inside look at ReviveMed Infusion Therapy - a medically supervised treatment option for people living with treatment-resistant mental health conditions.

If you or someone you care about has depression, PTSD, anxiety, suicidality, or complex trauma that has not improved enough with standard treatments, it can feel hard to know what to try next.

Infusion therapy is a hospital-based treatment where medication is delivered through an IV line while a clinical team closely monitors your safety, comfort, and response.

In this new video, Dr Alex Lim and Dr Rachelle Dawson explain what infusion therapy is, who it may be suitable for, and how ReviveMed supports patients alongside their existing GP, psychiatrist and psychologist.

Every ReviveMed infusion is medically supervised by specialist anaesthetists and qualified nursing teams. Care is delivered through our structured three-stage program (Revive, Recover, Thrive) and is designed to extend, not replace, the support a person is already receiving.

ReviveMed supports veterans, current and former ADF personnel, and private patients across our clinics in Canberra and Adelaide. Travel support may be available for eligible veterans.

Our approach is informed by clinical evidence and research partnerships with Yale, the University of Adelaide, and Mount Sinai.

If you’re a patient, family member, clinician, case manager, or organisation looking for options after standard treatments haven’t provided enough relief, we’d welcome a conversation about whether ReviveMed may fit into the care pathway.

With thanks to Canberra-based production company Good Shout for their outstanding work on this project with us.

How does the DVA claim process actually work with Zed3?

It’s one of the most common questions we get; and not knowing the answer is often the very thing that stops people from starting.

Understanding the DVA claim process helps reduce uncertainty.

Here's how it works when you pursue a mental health claim with our support:

Asking for help takes courage, and you don’t need to have it all figured out to reach out.

Whatever you might be holding right now, you don’t need to carry it alone.

Reaching out for support can feel difficult, especially when you’re used to pushing through on your own, but connection and support can make a big difference.

If you’d like to talk to someone (in person or via telehealth) our team is here www.zed3.com.au

Struggling again after a stretch of feeling better doesn’t erase the progress you’ve already made.

Because recovery rarely moves in a straight line.

The people we see often describe good stretches, harder ones, and setbacks that don’t always feel like setbacks later on. Healing looks different for everyone.

At Zed3, we provide psychiatric assessments, psychology (in-person and telehealth), and infusion therapy to support people throughout their mental health journey.

Whether you want support or just some information to start with, our team is here to help www.zed3.com.au

We are pleased to announce our new role with the Defence and Veterans' Service Commission (DVSC) to provide trauma-informed wellbeing support for their upcoming Advisory Group meetings.

The DVSC was established to improve su***de prevention and wellbeing outcomes for serving and ex-serving ADF members by overseeing reforms and providing independent, evidence-based advice to the Australian Government.

The Advisory Group's role is to inquire and report on the Government's implementation of the recommendations from the Royal Commission into Defence and Veteran Su***de; this work is critical and at times challenging.

Zed3 Psychologist Tamara will provide wellbeing support to the Commissioners' Advisory Group Members.

We're honoured to support the members contributing to this important work, and grateful to DVSC for the opportunity to be part of it.
