Apply to Noisy Futures 2026 Rock Camp program!

Rock Camp is back, and camper applications are officially open!
Run by Noisy Futures (previously known at Girls Rock! Canberra), this year they've got a bunch of new workshops, a stacked lineup of lunchtime performers, and five days of making music, trying new things, making friends, and having a whole lot of fun.

When is camp?
Dates: Monday 28 September - Friday 3 October | Showcase October 4
Time: 9am–4pm each day
Location: Ainslie Arts Centre, 30 Elouera Street, Braddon ACT

Rock Camp is a music mentorship program for girls, trans boys, gender diverse and intersex young people ages 10–17. Over five days, participants form their own bands, learn an instrument, watch live music performances, and participate in creative workshops (such as making zines and screen-printing band t-shirts). At the end of the week camper bands perform the songs they have written to an audience of family and friends.

Rock Camp encourages creativity, self-expression and self-determination through music, providing young people with a safe and affirming environment where they can express their identity and creativity. Our programming is underpinned by our values of respect, care, kindness, collaboration, community, and freedom of creative expression.

🏀 What a weekend of sport and community! 🏀
On Saturday, the headspace Tuggeranong and headspace Canberra teams were proud to attend the Warriors NAIDOC Basketball Tournament. It was fantastic to have staff and Youth Reference Group representatives from both centres working together to run the stall, connect with the community, and have important conversations with young athletes about mental health in sport.

Sport can be a powerful tool for wellbeing, but it’s important to recognise that looking after your mental health is just as important as looking after your physical health. If you're a coach, club, school, or sporting organisation interested in learning more about supporting young people to balance both mental and physical wellbeing in sporting environments, we'd love to hear from you!

The weekend also saw our Community Engagement Officer, Pat, travel to Hawkesbury with PCYC as a volunteer 3x3 basketball coach for the Nations of Origin program. Pat said it was a privilege and an honour to be a part of team Ngunnawal and to witness the incredible work that PCYC staff and volunteers do to create opportunities for young people through sport, culture, and connection.

If you or a young person you know are interested in representing your Nation through basketball, gymnastics, rugby league or mixed netball (fast 5), check out the PCYC Nations of Origin program here: https://www.pcycnsw.org.au/youth-programs/nations-of-origin/

A huge thank you to everyone who made this weekend possible. We love seeing the positive impact that sport can have on mental health, community connection, and young people's futures. 💚
