There Is A Structure Missing From The S*x Education Diagram.
The cl****is.
I know because I was in the classroom delivering it.
Almost ten years ago. Sydney. Year 5 and Year 6. A diagram of the female reproductive system that lateral cross-section we've all seen before.... uterus, fallopian tubes, ovaries, va**na .... all present and accounted for.

The cl****is was not on it.

The boys, for the record, received a complete external diagram. Full frontal. Circumcised and uncircumcised. On a slide. In a classroom. Perfectly educational. Nobody suggested this might make the boys embarrassed.

When I raised the absence professionally the response was this:
Putting a cl****is into the education slides IN A S*X ED CLASS might make the girls embarrassed. It might be a "bit much" !!!!!! 😳

Okay I want to talk about what that response is actually doing.

We were NOT protecting girls from embarrassment. We were teaching them to BE embarrassed. About a normal structure of their body. A structure that exists solely for their pleasure. That has no reproductive function. That contains approximately eight thousand nerve endings. That scientists did not fully map until 2005! Which tells you everything about whose pleasure medical research has historically considered worth understanding.
When girls aren't taught this structure exists they grow up without language for their own desire. Without permission to expect pleasure.

When boys aren't taught it either they grow up without the knowledge to be informed partners.

Nobody in that classroom was served by its absence.

We can do better. We know how. I would very much like to be part of building that better version.
Still, apparently, having this conversation in 2026,
