In 2024, the ANMF’s Federal Executive agreed to become a signatory to the Joint statement: Electronic communications must be available for voluntary assisted dying convened by Go Gentle Australia.

Go Gentle is now seeking support with sharing and promoting a petition created by a young woman called Emma Hargreaves about the Commonwealth ban on telehealth in VAD care. Emma's father Terry had terminal metastatic prostate cancer and had expressed his wish for Voluntary Assisted Dying. But it didn’t happen, partly because of the telehealth prohibition.

Go Gentle is asking us, as signatory to the above, to share Emma's e-petition https://www.aph.gov.au/e-petitions/petition/EN9912 with members. They’re trying to get as many signatures as possible before it closes on the 24th June 2026.
