🚨Do you have a male cat that has been going in and out of his litter tray, yet not producing any urine?🚨

Feline lower urinary tract disease (FLUTD) is an umbrella term used to describe a group of problems associated with the bladder and urethra of cats. Male cats are more susceptible to lower urinary blockages due to the narrow design of their urethras compared to female cats. When a cat is unable to urinate from a urethral obstruction, this is potentially life-threatening and a medical emergency.

ARH is excited to introduce our first FLUTD treatment bundle, for stable, obstructed cats. This comprehensive package is set at a flat fee of $3,500.

It includes:
- Emergency consultation
- Up to 48hours of hospitalisation
- IV catheter placement and fluid therapy
- 2x in-house blood analysis of electrolytes and kidney metabolites (CREA/BUN)
- Urinary catheter placement for unblocking under general anaesthesia
- 2 views abdominal x-rays
- Point-of-care ultrasound examination of the bladder
- All medications, in-hospital and for discharge

Criteria:

Well the basics are....
+ 'Outside' dogs should have draught free shelter under cover and ideally a jacket of some kind - yes go on... spoil them a bit!

+ Inside dogs... well, how big is your bed? ! :-)

+ Cats however often seek out warm car and truck engines if they’re outside, so if you do have a cat please make sure you know where it is BEFORE heading off anywhere... :-(

Meet Dr. Ania McInerney!

After graduating from the University of Melbourne in 2016 as class valedictorian, Ania spent six years in general practice before moving into emergency and critical care. Ania loves the adrenaline rush of critical care and enjoys helping families during difficult times, but her favourite part of the job is seeing her patients go home to their loving families at the end of their treatment. Before becoming a veterinarian, Ania was a professional opera singer who toured in Australia and abroad. She still enjoys performing occasionally but is mostly heard singing to her patients these days!

Outside of work she loves escaping the city with her husband and two children, to go camping, hiking or skiing. With a beloved elderly cat of her own, Ania believes pets are family and deserve compassionate, thorough care.

Celebrations are in order for the lovely Lily, whom we first met in January 🥳🎉

Lily started chemotherapy with the ARH Medicine team, shortly after being diagnosed with multicentric lymphoma. She completed her last treatment of her 19-weeks protocol this past Monday, and we wish Lily all the best 💕
