Today is a brand new day - you can start again, if you want.
✨ Monday’s gratitude ✨
Firstly, as I write this, the kookaburras are laughing which makes me smile 😊
The rest - trigger warning ⚠️
Today I am grateful for my awareness of the mother wound. I’d say 80%+ of people that I work with have a mother wound. I too have a (healing) mother wound. Most people are not aware of such a term and of course it’s not a term I use while someone is laying on my table, deep in the grief of their wounds.
I’d also say that healing the wound is difficult and awareness - not blame - is important.
We’ve moved into a cancel culture. Meaning it’s common to hear of women cutting ties with their mothers. There’s also a school of thought that cancelling out your mother will bring you peace.
I don’t agree.
Sure, it may bring you some relief from the constant battering but those wounds cut deep. They change you and they shape your behaviour and patterns.
Cancelling out doesn’t bring long term peace. Becoming aware of how your mother’s behaviour and actions have impacted you and the way in which you now move through life, and working towards healing from that is what will bring you peace.
I’m not here to tell you not to cut ties with your mother. I’m here to support you through your decision to do what’s best for you.
Lots of love from me to you 🩷
