I have created a mindfulness journal! 🌿

A Human Being is a reflective mindfulness journal inspired by Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) and the embodied philosophy of Life in Rhythm. Designed to gently reconnect you with your body, breath, inner wisdom, and the natural world, this journal offers a simple yet profound daily practice of pausing, noticing, and being.

Across four themed weeks; Arriving in the Body, Meeting the Natural World, Compassion & Connection, and Integration & Inner Wisdom you will be guided through grounding rituals, sensory awareness, emotional check‑ins, and gratitude reflections. Each day invites you to slow down, soften, and meet your experience with curiosity and kindness.

This is a beautiful opportunity to steal 15 minutes of 'you' time at the end of a busy day to be still, connected and insightful.

“You look too young to be taking HRT,” the pharmacy assistant said to me just last week.
A flattering comment, sure however it highlights something I see far too often.
Why are we still so attached to the idea that peri‑menopause has a “correct” age?

In my clinic, I hear it again and again:
“The doctor won’t take me seriously because he says I’m too young to be in peri‑menopause.”

Chronological age needs to be taken out of the hormone conversation.
I have girlfriends who reached menopause well before 50. I have clients whose symptoms began in their late 30s. The idea that peri‑menopause is a “50‑something” experience is outdated and unhelpful.

What matters is your symptoms, your lived experience, and your body’s timing, not someone else’s expectations.

This is where self‑advocacy becomes essential.
If something feels off, speak up. If you’re dismissed, ask again. If you’re not being heard, seek a practitioner who will listen. You are the expert of your body, and you deserve care that reflects that.

Peri‑menopause doesn’t run on a schedule.
And you don’t need permission to take your symptoms seriously.

WA BOWEN THERAPY PRACTITIONERS - Over time, I’ve felt a growing need within our WA Bowen community for a space that brings us back to what truly sustains us — connection with each other, connection with the natural environment, and connection with ourselves. So many of us work in quiet service, often without the chance to pause, reflect, or be held in the same way we hold others.

The Bowen Pause was created to change that.

A gentle, community‑centred weekend where practitioners can step into nature, share meaningful conversations, reconnect with their own presence, and remember the deeper rhythm beneath their work.

Are you currently feeling the effects of the collective energy?

The list really could go on.

Let’s work towards the long weekend together, consciously, gently. This week, my focus is on nervous system down regulation - speaking directly to my parasympathetic nervous system, working intentionally to ground myself emotionally and physically.

Here are some of the simple grounding techniques I use:
- Imagery use i.e. put your worries in a bubble and let them float away.
- Think of something funny.
- Say the alphabet slowly.
- Take your shoes off and connect with the Earth.
- Breathe deeply up through your feet, filling your lungs and expanding your ribs. Exhale gently.
- Rub your hands together slowly, taking three deep breaths.
- Hug someone you love or hug a tree!

I am wishing everyone a beautiful and connected long weekend. As I will be, I hope you create moments of stillness and rest for yourself. Focus on your nervous system. Offer yourself love and time for restoration.

Learning new things is challenging, rewarding, inspiring, boring, hard to focus on.... all the things! However, when something pops up that is just so aligned with how you think it blows your mind! Solution Focused Therapy has been one of those modules in my Diploma of Counselling training.

Here are some of the principles according to deShazer et al. (2007, p. 2, as cited by Gehart, 2018, p. 392).
