Did you know myopia (short-sightedness) can be detected in children as young as 4 years old? 👁️
Many parents are surprised to learn that kids don’t always realise their vision is blurry, because they often assume everyone sees the same way they do.
Early detection is so important. Identifying myopia sooner gives us the opportunity to monitor changes closely, support healthy visual development, and discuss management options that may help slow progression over time.
Some signs parents might notice include:
• Sitting very close to screens
• Squinting to see far away
• Holding books close
• Complaints of headaches or tired eyes
• Losing focus at school or avoiding distance activities
Regular children’s eye tests play a big role in picking up changes early, often before they start impacting learning, confidence, or everyday life 💙
