Cancer impacts our community in many different ways — physically, emotionally and spiritually. At Durri, we want our mob to know you are not alone on this journey.

Our Cancer Care Support Team is here to walk beside individuals, families and carers impacted by cancer, providing culturally safe support, connection and care every step of the way.

🌿 Mobs Way to Wellness – Cancer Support Group
🕥 Every week | 10:30am – 2:00pm

This group provides a safe space for yarns, support, healing, information sharing and connection with others who understand the journey of cancer and caring responsibilities.

Whether you are currently going through treatment, in recovery, supporting a loved one or grieving the impacts of cancer, our doors are open to you.

Together, we heal stronger. 💙💜

Today we proudly held the presentation for our World No To***co Day Art Exhibition, celebrating the incredible creativity and powerful messages shared by our young people.

A massive thank you to everyone who attended, supported the exhibition and took the time to vote for the artwork. Your encouragement means so much to our young artists and helps continue important conversations around living smoke free and healthy lifestyles.

We would also like to sincerely thank Ready Quit Solid for their valued contribution and ongoing support, along with Aunty Jude Jarrett and the amazing team from MNCLHD Safe Haven for helping make today such a success.

Congratulations to all of the young people who participated — your artwork, talent and voices should be incredibly proud. 💙

Two-Year CEO Anniversary 🤩

Today marks two years since I commenced as CEO of Durri Aboriginal Corporation Medical Service. Two years. But this isn't about two years — it's about generational change. It's about the long, patient work of ensuring our children and grandchildren inherit stronger communities than those we inherited.

Kempsey has the shortest life expectancy of any LGA on the North Coast. Our su***de rate is nearly double the NSW average. Our community faces real, daily challenges. That's why we come to work every single day.

Here's what we've built together over the past two years:

✅ AGPAL Accreditation achieved for Durri and Darrimba Maarra Health Outpost
✅ Strategic Plan, Master Plan, and Durri 2046 — a 20-year vision for our community
✅ Full staffing capacity reached — seeing over 100 patients every day
✅ Significantly strengthened our funding base and financial independence
✅ York Lane Kempsey redevelopment underway, new sites across our footprint
✅ Durri Healing Centre in development — a 15-bed residential rehabilitation facility for our community, presented to the Federal Minister for Health
✅ SEWB team expanded and our inaugural SEWB Conference held in November 2025
✅ Appointed to the NSW Aboriginal Su***de Prevention Council and the Just Reinvest NSW Board
✅ Built stronger partnerships with the Mid North Coast LHD and local Members of Parliament
✅ Developed The Durri Ways — embedding culture across everything we do

None of this belongs to one person.

It belongs to our Board, our staff, our Elders, our members, and most of all — our community. You are our purpose. You are why we do this.

We also acknowledge and pay our deepest respect to our Elders — past and present — whose wisdom, strength and guidance continue to shape Durri’s journey. We thank everyone who has walked alongside Durri over the years — our leaders, staff, members, partners, Elders and community — for your contribution, commitment and belief in what we are building together.

Twenty years from now, we want people to say: Durri did more than provide services. Durri built leaders. Durri strengthened culture. Durri restored hope. Durri changed the trajectory of generations. The best is yet to come. 🙏❤️

For 50 years, Durri has proudly provided primary health care to the Kempsey community, and for 30 years we have continued supporting families and individuals across the Nambucca Valley.

Over the decades our services have continued to grow and evolve to meet the needs of our communities, with one clear focus — providing quality, culturally safe, and accessible care for everyone.

Today, we are proud to continue expanding our reach into Bowraville and Bellbrook, ensuring more community members can access the support and services they need, closer to home.

From health care and wellbeing support to community programs and outreach services, Durri remains committed to walking alongside our communities and delivering the best possible care for generations to come.

Thank you to our communities, staff, Elders, partners, and supporters who have been part of this incredible journey. Together we continue building stronger, healthier communities for all.

🎉 The Kempsey NAIDOC Week calendar has officially been finalised by the NAIDOC committee and they are excited to share a jam packed week of celebrations with our community!

This year marks 50 years of NAIDOC — celebrating culture, strength, resilience and the incredible achievements of our people. Throughout the week there will be activities, community gatherings, family fun, cultural celebrations and opportunities for everyone to come together and celebrate what makes our communities deadly.

Keep an eye on our page as we begin sharing event details, times and locations over the coming days. We can’t wait to celebrate with you all!
