🎉🌟 MAY “THE LINDY” WINNER ANNOUNCED! 🌟🎉

Warramunda Village, it's time to celebrate another staff member who lives and breathes our WE CARE values every single day. 💛👏

Congratulations to our May winner of ✨ The Lindy ✨... the amazing MARISSA HOOPER! 🌟🏆

If you've spent any time around Warramunda Community Care, you'll know exactly why Marissa's name has finally found its way to the top of the list.

After receiving nominations in March, April and now May, Marissa has become one of the most consistently recognised team members across the organisation. Anyone who knows her passion, dedication and commitment to our clients would tell you this result comes as no surprise.

As our Community Care Services and Operations Coordinator, Marissa is the driving force behind so much of what happens across our Support at Home services. Working closely with our carers, case managers and Director Leah Konings, she helps coordinate care and support for more than 150 clients across our community.

She is often the first person people turn to when they need help, advice or answers, and her commitment to ensuring clients receive the very best care shines through every day. 💛🏡

Marissa now joins Louise Connally and Cassie O'Dwyer as our monthly winners for 2026, with her name added to what is already becoming a very impressive honour roll.

🌼 MAY NOMINEES 🌼
A huge congratulations to all of this month's nominees:
⭐ Sean Davidson
⭐ Joy Orr
⭐ Bernadete Daperoc
⭐ Cesare Malerba
⭐ Kellie Wickham
⭐ Jason White
⭐ Tahir Yaqoobi
⭐ Marissa Hooper

It's also worth noting that several familiar names continue to appear month after month. With nominations continuing to roll in, we wouldn't be surprised to see many of these staff members joining Louise, Cassie and Marissa as future monthly winners. 🌟

💛 WHAT IS "THE LINDY"?
The Lindy recognises staff members who consistently demonstrate Warramunda's WE CARE values of Compassion, Accountability, Respect and Excellence.

Each month, one outstanding team member is selected from staff nominations, with all monthly winners progressing into consideration for the overall Lindy Award at our annual Service Awards celebration.

The Australian Government has just announced stronger protections for older Australians accessing Support at Home, responding directly to what older people, families, advocates and providers have been saying.

It’s a big step forward - more transparency, fairer pricing, clearer rights, and better support for people trying to navigate the system 💛

But here’s the thing…
Even with all these new safeguards, the best place to start isn’t a government website or a long document.

It’s right here, in your own backyard - Warramunda Community Care 🌿

There has never been more support available to help older Australians understand their options, compare prices, challenge unfair charges and feel confident about the services they’re receiving. The Government is strengthening protections, improving oversight, and giving people more tools to make informed decisions.

But nothing replaces a real conversation.
Nothing replaces someone sitting beside you, listening, guiding, and helping you work out what’s best for you.

And that’s exactly what we do.

At Warramunda Community Care, our case managers don’t stay behind desks. They’ll come to your home, sit at your kitchen table, and talk through everything - over a cuppa, a biccy, and in the comfort of your own space ☕🍪

We can help you understand:
• What Support at Home services are available
• How to register with My Aged Care
• What’s reasonable to pay - and what isn’t
• How to plan ahead before a crisis hits
• What support will help you stay safely at home for longer 🏡✨

With residential aged care facilities across the country already full, getting the right support at home has never been more important. And you don’t have to figure it out alone.

If you, your family or someone you care for is starting to think about future support needs, start local. Start with people who know you, your community, and the realities older Australians are facing.

📞 Call us on 5852 2611 to book a time for a chat.
We’re here, ready to help - and always happy to put the kettle on 💛

💜 IMPORTANT - AND POSITIVE - NEWS FOR OUR COMMUNITY 💜

From 1 October 2026, the Australian Government will remove co‑contributions for Personal Care services under the Support at Home program.

✨ That means if you’re approved for Personal Care and have available Support at Home funding… you will no longer pay a contribution for that service.

This change applies to all providers, and it’s a mandatory update to the Clinical Supports contribution category.

🗓️ Services delivered before 1 October will still attract a contribution, even if they’re claimed afterwards - but from 1 October onward, Personal Care becomes fully funded for eligible clients.

💜 What this means for Warramunda Community Care clients
This is great news for both:
🌼 Current clients - you may now be able to increase or adjust your services.
🌼 New clients - if you’ve been thinking about getting support at home, this is the perfect time to start the conversation.

More funding flexibility means more of the support that helps you stay safe, confident and independent at home 💛🏡

💬 We’re here to help
Our real, local Warramunda case managers are ready to sit down with you, explain the changes, and help you make the most of your Support at Home funding.
Whether you’re already with us or just starting to explore your options - we’d love to chat.

📞 Reach out today, to one of our case managers like Zoe, on 5852 2611 and let’s plan the support that works best for you.

Australians are waiting far too long before registering with My Aged Care - a concern raised last week at the by Ageing Australia Victorian Conference by CEO Tony Symondson.

His words were echoed by COTA (Council on the Ageing) CEO Patricia Sparrow and their message is clear: don’t wait for a crisis before reaching out for help ⚠️

With the government encouraging older Australians to stay at home longer, getting access to Support at Home packages early is now essential. And with residential aged‑care facilities across the country already full, Support at Home services have become a vital necessity 🏡

At Warramunda Community Care, we’re ready right now to support older Australians and their families through what can feel like a confusing and emotional process. Our case managers don’t just sit behind desks - they’ll come to your home, sit at your kitchen table, and help you understand your options with clarity and compassion 💛

Why start early?
• Faster access to Support at Home packages ⏳
• Less stress when health or mobility changes 💬
• More choice and flexibility in the services you receive 🌿
• A smoother path if higher levels of care are needed later
• Support that keeps you safe, confident and independent at home 🏠✨

The message from aged‑care leaders is simple: call before you’re in crisis.
Starting the My Aged Care process early means support is ready when you need it - not months down the track.

Warramunda Community Care is here, ready and waiting, to walk beside you every step of the way. If you or someone you love is beginning to think about future support needs, now is the perfect time to start the conversation 💛📞

🎉🌟 APRIL “THE LINDY” WINNER ANNOUNCED! 🌟🎉

Warramunda Village, it’s time to give a HUGE round of applause to our April winner of ✨ The Lindy ✨… the one and only CASSIE O’DWYER! 👏💛👩‍🍳

If you know Cass, you already know why she was one of 15 incredible nominees this month (she was nominated last month as well) - and why she absolutely SHINES in everything she does. From the kitchen to The Switch Café to whipping up residents’ favourite treats (or at least most of them 😄), Cassie brings heart, humour, and pure excellence to every shift.

And yes… she was very surprised, and humble (as always)!

Cassie has a beautiful connection to the award’s namesake, Lindy Sheers, who worked alongside her years ago. Lindy, usually based in the laundry (now named in her honour 💛), picked up extra kitchen shifts from 3–6 pm, and Cass remembers her as someone who never forgot a birthday and always brought TattsLotto tickets - even if Cass never won! 🎟️😂 Those memories make this award extra special for her.

But for the full story - including Cassie’s journey from Numurkah to Brisbane to Kyabram, her café days at Azucar and Restaurant 3620, and her rise to Catering Manager - you’ll want to read this month’s edition of Waggles, the Warramunda Village newsletter. It’s packed with all the details, stories, and smiles.

🌼 APRIL NOMINEES 🌼
A massive congratulations to all 15 staff members nominated this month - what a list!
Kim Evans • Jason White • Colleen Sutton • Cassie O’Dwyer • Vanessa Laidlaw • Sean Davidson • Billie Merritt • Marissa Hooper • Theresa Heenan • Dustyn Lawler • Angelina Sutrisna • Emily Melville • Virgie Mabulac • Kath Atkins • Ross Cooper

You’re all superstars ⭐ and you make Warramunda the warm, caring community it is.

And of course, a shout‑out to Louise Connally, our inaugural March winner! 🌟

💛 WHAT IS “THE LINDY”?
It’s our new monthly award celebrating staff who live our WE CARE values - Compassion, Accountability, Respect and Excellence. At the end of 12 months, one of the monthly winners will be crowned the overall recipient at our Service Awards event.

🌿💜 Happy International Day of Families! 💜🌿
May 15

Today we celebrate the heart of everything we do at Warramunda Community Care - families in all their shapes, sizes and stories. 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦👵👴💞

Every day, our team is welcomed into people’s homes at the moments that matter most.
🌅 When the day begins
🚗 When important appointments need support
🌙 And when the evening winds down

These aren’t just visits - they’re relationships built on trust, routine and genuine connection. Many of our clients welcome us in like extended family, and we feel that warmth every time we step through the door. 🏡💛

Our case managers also form incredibly special bonds - listening, guiding, organising and supporting in ways that often feel closer to family than formal service. It’s one of the beautiful things about Support at Home: the relationship goes far beyond a standard provider‑client partnership. It becomes personal, respectful and deeply human. 🤝💗

We’re also proud to be part of the wider Warramunda Village family:
🏠 our carers and case managers
🏥 our residential aged care team
🏘️ our Independent Living Units community

Different roles, different spaces - but one big family connected by care, compassion and community spirit. 🌈💞

On this International Day of Families, we want to say thank you to every person who welcomes us into their home and into their lives.

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 One big family - and we love being part of it. 💜

This week, we’re joining the national conversation about palliative care - what it is, why it matters, and how early conversations can make a real difference for individuals and families.

At Warramunda Community Care, we support people to live well at home, and many of the people we walk alongside are connected to loved ones in residential care. That’s why awareness is so important. Palliative care is about comfort, connection and quality of life, not just end‑of‑life moments.

The 2026 theme encourages all of us to ask honest questions and seek clear, human‑centred answers. Talking early helps families feel more prepared, more supported and more confident about the care they choose.
