🐾 Today’s Lesson from Major 🐾

Take time for yourself. 🤎

Life can get busy, heavy and sometimes overwhelming. It’s important to slow down, enjoy the little things and make time for something that makes you happy.

Major is practising exactly that today… with a well-earned puppuccino! ☕🐶

Sometimes self-care really is that simple.

🐾 Major’s Big Day at the Crematorium 🐾

Today I had a very important puppy-in-training adventure… I visited a crematorium! 🐶❤️

I learned lots of interesting things about fire cremation:

🔥 The cremator (called a retort) operates at around 880°C.

⚰️ Did you know a coffin isn’t legally required for a fire cremation? There are other approved options available.

🦴 I also discovered that after cremation, the remaining bone fragments don’t have to be processed into the fine ash people usually receive. The cremulation process is a separate step.

🐕 Sadly… I wasn’t allowed to keep any bones. I asked nicely, but apparently they’re not for puppies! 😅
(But the crematorium staff do give me belly rubs)

📍 There are 11 crematoriums across Victoria, each helping families farewell their loved ones with dignity and care.

Every visit teaches me a little more so I can keep helping educate people about death care—for both people and pets.

Love,
Major 🐾

It’s Dying to Know Month, and on 8 August we celebrate Dying to Know Day.

Death is something we will all experience, yet it’s often one of the hardest topics to talk about.

This month, I’d love to open the conversation.

Do you have a question about death care, funerals, cremation, burial, advance care planning, or recording your end-of-life wishes?

No question is too big, too small, or too awkward. If you’ve ever wondered about something but haven’t known who to ask, now is your chance.

Pop your question in the comments or send me a private message if you’d prefer. Throughout Dying to Know Month, I’ll answer as many questions as I can to help make end-of-life planning less confusing and more approachable.

Let’s start having conversations that matter.

💛🐾 Meet Major – Lang Lang District Funeral Service’s puppy in training and four-legged comfort companion.

Major may still be learning the ropes, but he already has a gentle heart, a wagging tail, and an uncanny ability to know when someone needs a friend. As our funeral puppy in training, he’s learning how to offer quiet comfort on life’s hardest days. Whether he’s greeting families, sitting beside someone who needs a moment, or happily accepting pats, he reminds us that love doesn’t always need words.

Major also has an important mission—to help make conversations about death, dying, and aftercare a little less scary. Through community events and everyday chats, he’s here to help educate people about end-of-life care for both people and their beloved pets, proving that these conversations can be gentle, compassionate, and even bring a smile.

He’s taking his important job seriously… most of the time. After all, he’s still a puppy, so tennis balls, treats, and the occasional zoomies are all part of his training too.

Because sometimes the greatest comfort comes with four paws, a wet nose, and a heart full of unconditional love. 💛🐾

Today we hold space for every kind of Mother’s Day.

For the mums who are still with us.
For the mums we miss deeply.
For those facing their very first Mother’s Day without Mum.
And for the families carrying love and grief side by side.

We know days like today can feel beautiful, heavy, comforting, and heartbreaking all at once. There is no right way to move through it.

Maybe today is about flowers and family lunches.
Maybe it’s about lighting a candle, looking through old photos, or simply making it through the day.

However today looks for you, may you feel wrapped in love, memories, and gentle moments of peace.

To every mother, grandmother, stepmum, chosen mum, and those remembering them — we are thinking of you today. 💜
